Nice looking shorty you have there. That's great you and your Dad are going to build it together. Can't wait to see more pics and progress on your project.

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
looking to do a frame off rebuild with a 350 auto tranny 4/6 drop sway bars from a c-20. truck is got some rust, will need corners floors, rockers, inner fenders, radiator support. when i get tore into it if the front fenders are gone will probrably swap to 67-68 front end like them better than 69-70 and will put cowl hood on regaurdless. the rest will remain pretty well stock except for the brakes and they were changed by the PO to a 72 front with disc and the rear was also swapped giving it 5 lug all around. 18 in the rear and 17 in the front using i think torq thrust 2 and not sure on tire size will have to see what it will clear

Sounds nice! what are you going to do with the paint? Leave it black, or are you going to mix it up?

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
Update on the truck. Will have the pictures on wensday and will post them. Got out to the junkyard today and found a good truck. Robbed the front fender off of it. Had no rust on it except a little surface and one small dent in the front of it. also took out the tranny crossmember to go under mine. While looking around found a 73 3/4 ton c-20. I took the swaybar off the front of it. Thanks to a thread I read on here earlier this month and all the brackets and mounting got them all for $50.

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
Thanks for the compliments.
Done some more work on the truck today. We took off the inner fenders on both sides. Both of them will have to be replaced. I wish they made patch panels for the front of them. Also removed the heater on the truck on the firewall on the inside and the outside. and the windshield wiper motor and linkage. Then we pulled out the truck and pressure washed what we could to kinda clean it up. Waiting now on the efabman videos which should be here friday before we start welding in parts. From the threads in this they should help alot. I ll post more pics and comments as we go. |

This is some of the crap that the PO did to the truck. I wish people would fix things right rather than rigging them to work. But i guess that shoes in the shape my truck is in right now

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
This is some of the progress pictures that we took. The truck has a new floor on the drivers side, the kick panel was replaced. Also you can see the bottom of the a pillar that has been tacked into place. The front cab support on the drivers side was also replaced. We are now in the process of fitting the drivers door and the front fender for fitment and will the replace the drivers side cab corner and the rest of the inner rocker

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
Got the gas tank out of the truck and cut out the rear inner rocker on the drivers side the lower portion of the door jamb and the cab corner. I was suprised that i just had to take a couple of inches off the bottom of the cab corner. We are in the process of fitting the inner rocker and other stuff right now. I might have the drivers side done by tomorrow afternoo depending on how smooth it all goes in. ill post some pics tommorrow of the progress.

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
Got quiet a bit of work done on the truck since the last post that i made. the truck is now completely torn down. cab corners, floors A & B piliars and inner rockers all all installed. Removed the engine and tranny from the truck along with all of the steering coulumn and pedals. Its a rolling chasis with a shell on it now. You can see in some of the pics of the firewall we are in the process of shaving it and fixing rust in the old channel where the eiring layed, but its just gonna take time.

Re: father / son 70 c-10 build up
I found a gold mine. went down to this guys place and he has about 60 of these old trucks and parts laying everywhere. I picked up some for my old truck while we were there. all of them have a little surace rust but nothing sandblasting won't remove and they are original GM parts
