who cares if emblems are correct?
I have noticed over time here that when someone posts up a truck some guys like to pick it apart and notice all the stuff that is not year and model correct. The truck I am in progress on is a conglomoration of many trucks without trying to be year or model correct about anything. that being said It is 4x4, any trim holes have been shaved except the emblem holes. Too late to shave those as its been painted already. The inside of the cab has headliner, tach dash, ac and buckets. The only emblems that I have that will fit the holes are custom/10 Deluxe, or I have the 8 350 emblem I could use in place of the "deluxe" Would using those emblems be too much out of line? would I catch some grief for using those? Does anyone care thanks Jerry

90% of the pople you see wouldnt know any way. were you going to put the delux by the marker lights? if so you could alway hunt down a set of the 4x4 emblems for there. I would just use what you have.

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
That table is not real oak. Looks like vaneer to me. Actually I think people in general like to notice things so they can be right about something. The last car show I was in a man approached me and complimented the truck. That opened the door to him ranting about a tear in my seat for about ten mins. I told him that I'd rather have the orig with a small tear than a cover that was not correct. I just started to wander away and stop listening. He left. I wanted to see what he drove in on.

Same thing is happening with our trucks. These trucks are what they are, and that is why we like them. Whether we restore them, rod them, restify them, modify them, or just use them, it's what we want to do. If you are into restoration, I understand that you are going to see something that isn't concours correct. I may look at your truck and see a run, or some lines that don't line up, or a gap that isn't the same all the way or an emblem with some pitting. But I have learned that I need to keep quiet. I have a buddy who restored Mustangs, and in the process it almost ruined my ability to go to a show and just look and enjoy the cars I saw. I hate being with someone who is constantly judging what they see and unable to simply enjoy the day. If we are going to do what we do, we need to take the time to enjoy it, and offer compliments for the work that is done, the choice of colors, the way the engine sounds, etc. Don't diss someone or what they have, because it makes your stuff look better in your own mind. Bottom line: If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
I think that you should not worry about what other people think about your truck or emblems. Build your truck to your liking. If other people start bashing your truck tell them to either give you the money to make it (right) or shut up.

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
Put a Heinz 57 label over the holes.Would that make it correct?Nothing wrong with a CustomDeluxe.I have one.The emblems are correct, but the headliner isn`t.Same thing, right?
It`s 400 engine badges are correct and original. But,I have an incorrect motor.Actually, the correct motor would be incorrect because the truck`s now a 4wd and they never had 402s.My motor`s incorrect because it`s a 400 and they weren`t available in any 67-72 truck.WHOA!!!Hold on...I have a 400 SBC in a 4wd`72 with a 400 emblem. That`s more correct than a 402 in a 2wd`72 with a 400 emblem, right?Well, kinda?Sounds right doesn`t it? I`m putting 1 ton axles under it and I have Custom/30 emblems for it.They never made 1 ton 4wds in`72.Would it be correct to have 3/4t emblems on a 1t that was never made or 1t emblems on a 1t?What would be incorrect, the emblems, truck, wold the correct emblems make the truck correct,do two incorrects make a correct??????I don`t think it matters. There was a tie Oct. TOTM,a 67 and a 68.They were voted to win by us.The`67 has`68 grille surround and the`68 doesn`t,but has the side markers filled.The`68 looks more like a`67 than the`67.They pulled it off,eh?

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
Olden days, I believe that Chevrolet calls them badges and GMC calls them emblems. Get it right.

If you really want a correct answer ask your wife or girlfriend they know everything!

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
I have a '71 SWB Cheyenne Super K10 that I am going to put a '68 front clip on. I'm going to put the correct emblems back on but I want to see how many people tell me they didn't make a Cheyenne Super in '68. It's your truck, do what makes you happy. Don't worry about the population.

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
You going to get a couple "Maxwell House" cans to add to the end of your exhaust system?

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
Correct! Once I figure out which camshaft will duplicate the VTEC sound, could be another bad camshaft design like the Thumper.

Re: who cares if emblems are correct?
Haha.. actually get a kick out of people asking me what happened to the other "10"? I still have the Custom/20 Deluxe badge on the fender with leafs in the rear and 20 lug nuts total.
Its a C-15, IMO. =)
