Anyone have a metal bed in their short step?
I want to convert my short step to a metal bed floor.
Wood won't hold up in my year-round daily driver- we live in the woods and won't ever use wood. WAY too much upkeep. Anyone have pics/info? Thanks!

What do you put in the bed? My pops and I put treated deck boards in my truck over 10 years ago and it's holding up very well and I never stained or varnished it. It's had motors and trannys in the bed.

I can`t believe I don`t have any pictures of the sweetest truck I ever built. It was a`70 Stepside that I tubbed and used a fleetside floor and wheelhouses.I had to hurry up and finish the truck and sell.I owed big material bills thanks to a builder going bankrupt. It got sold while at the paint shop.

Re: Anyone have a metal bed in their short step?
I've got two with metal floors in them right now. One is a poorly done job where they just laid what looks like a thick sheet of aluminum down, attached it with screws and then caulked the joint. Looks like crap. Not my suggestion. The other one is just a nicely done piece of metal welded in. It actually looks ok.

Re: Anyone have a metal bed in their short step?
That red truck with the factory fleet bed is what I want to do to the stepper. I have asked pickmup for a bed price and haven't heard back yet; he is just 'up the street' in Olympia- 20 minutes from me. Hopefully we can get a price we can both live with and I can get the bed in this summer or fall. Will be a temp sheet of plywood until then.
Anyone else have pics? Thanks,
