ummm.... now what?

well, besides some minor rear suspension work, my truck is about 95% finished.

when i look through jegs, summit, classic pickup parts, i honestly have to try hard to find parts i would want to buy.

i need something to work on, but the wife says i cant have another project!

Re: ummm.... now what?

Why not get into engine building? You could start off small with a basic 305 or 350. Learn how it works, read alot about it, and start building some good engines.

I don't know what you have in your truck now, but it would give me great satisfaction if I could actually build a motor and put it into the truck I built.

It wouldn't take up much space in the garage, so it might not be hard to convince the wife to let you try it.

Edit: I don't mean that a 305 or 350 isn't a good engine AT ALL. What I meant was that you should try building something stock or slightly modified first, then start getting into performance.

i've got a 355 that i built that should be around 400hp at the crank

like i said, truck truck is

95% finished. the only other things i would want to do would be add some caltrac bars on the rear and a set of good drag radials. that is the other 5%

You are the first person I have ever heard say they are (almost) finished with a car project.

I agree with Ken.... drive it and enjoy.

They are never finished until it rolls out of the driveway with the new owner behind the wheel.

Re: ummm.... now what?

Ah to have a project finished.. If they dont need any work around here they get driven until they do need work. Here is how to placate her, do a project in the house. It can be anything, painting the bathroom, or building a deck. I know it gets a little bit cold in Oklahoma, so an indoor project would be nice.

Once that is done, then buy a two door, rear wheel drive, V8 powered car built before 1980. Make that into a small project at first, easing her into the idea. If its something she likes to ride in, all the better. Turn the car into something you can pull around with your truck. Build a trailer for it if you can weld.

Alternatively you can come up here and work on my projects, I have enough to keep you busy for a lifetime. Problem is I dont pay very well..

Re: ummm.... now what?

Why not get into FI managment & PCM tuning. Go buy EFI Live or HP Tuners....etc That will keep you busy for awhile.
