has anybody ever used desk top dyno then went to a real dyno with the real engine? just wondering how accurate they are.. im thinking about building a 377 so i was thinking about buying the desk top for trial and errors....would be fun to play with but if there no where near accurate i would be disappointed...

Car Craft built some engines and dynoed them as well as ran them through desktop dyno & i believe they were accurate betwwen 4-5 percent of actual.

once you learn how to use it correctly, Its pretty accurate..its too easy to fudge inputs to get favorable results.... I know I wasnt happy with some of the numbers...so I gave the heads a little more flow...adjusted cam timing..etc. But when I built the motor, it had the power that it said it would..I determined this by my 1/4 mile times and the weight of the truck
