Corvette Ram Horns

Will these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/72-80...QQcmdZViewItem work on my 70 C-10 or would the dump being straight down interfere with the crossmember?

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

I thinkthere is a typo in the listing, because the corvette manifolds have a 2 1/2" exit not a 2"

They will fit,but it is a pain and will require some crafty exhaust work

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

As far as I know all Byrd is correct. All Corvette SBC ramhorns were either 2.5" or 3" not 2". They will work, but a custom built y-pipe will be required.

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

They look like the ones used for 4x4's. I believe all the 4x4 trucks dump strait down, at least they do on mine.
Here is another place on ebay for them- http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EXHAU...QQcmdZViewItem
they have the angled outlet ones too.

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

Those are just the common 2" rams that are sold for many chev vehicles, incl our trucks (4x4 & 4spd). The Ebay sellers like to use the "Corvette" on as many listings as they can...sounds special.
There were just a couple years of vettes, high HP, that used the 2.5" rams that flow much better than these.
The 2.5" can be used on 2wd trucks IF you use 45 degree mandrell bent short attaching pipes and a mini starter for clearance. Dorman makes/sells the 2.5 rams.

This is correct as the ones on my 74 are 2" and it has the l-48 low output engine. Most of the c-3 years have these. 68-82 .

I have the straight dumps on my 67 SWB and the passenger side exhaust pipe had to be dimpled to clear the CM. They were custom made for the PO so I can't say what stock ones might do.

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

Looks like I could get a set of 2.5" Vette ram horns from Midway http://www.midwayautosupply.com/m-11...fold-kits.aspx for $125 shipped less than half the cost of the tri-y headers I was looking at. Will the ram horns flow anywhere near as well as the headers?

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

he was sold out when I was looking. the mandrel pipe can be ordered for about $15. Just ask for a 4" radius U bend made from 2.5" and cut it in half.

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

Those 2 1/2in manifolds have molded in brackets for accessories towards the front. I don't need that and think it would look funny.

Wish I knew for sure those Speedway tube manifolds won't work on a 67 C10 smallblock... they're exactly what I was looking for.

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

The can be mounted on either side. I cut the bracket off of mine.

I have some on my 68, not those exact ones, but mine do dump in the center and no problem they fit perfect. They are on an 1984 305 engine out of a monte carlo.

Re: Corvette Ram Horns

Here's another option. Starting in 1981 the Corvette manifolds were made of stainless with a 2" outlet. '82s were 2.5". They have the same dementions as the iron manifolds. I took off the heat shields and AIR tubes, welded up the holes and used Eastwood stainless coating on them. I cut the flared end off of a couple of new 2" head pipes I had around of unkown usage and have a mandrel bend to cut up to point the pipe away from the crossmember.

I paid $35. for these from a friend that had them on Ebay. They looked pretty nasty but a little work was all they needed.
