Re: check out this rare truck

I am guessing he didn't pay much for it and will make a killing off ebay. Look at how high the AM/FM is.

Re: check out this rare truck

Could the cab really be that bad that some patch panels couldn't be welded in to save a nice truck. I mean if the truck is beyond repair, you will know it. Small amounts of rust can hide. Sounds like he's running a chop shop. What a shame.

Re: check out this rare truck

I looked up the original auction for the truck through his feedback. He paid $2300 for it. He's making a quarter of that back on the radio alone! can't fault the guy for that I suppose

heres the linky to that auction:

Re: check out this rare truck

OK, I'm the guilty party!! I've been doing this a while and think I know what I'm doing - this is truck #91 for me !! Here's the scoop - I bought the truck off ebay for what I thought was a good deal. After I got it home I realized that the body was much worse than described. Both rockers gone (1 side literally not there!!), all 4 cab supports shot, big rust holes in floor, rust in firewall gutter, cancer in drip rail, and a hole big enough to put your thumb in at visor area. If you look at the auction pictures, you can see that the front cap and bed were replaced (with junk!) and no Cheyenne Super emblems.
If someone needed all these options to build a truck for themselves, that may not be a bad price just for the options, but I already have all this stuff and was going to resell the truck after I made some improvements. After I realized how far gone the truck was I don't think I could resell it for what I had in it and definitly was not going to attempt to restore this monster. I figure parting will be the best option and I will be lucky just to break even on this one!
ps - look closely at the SPID sheet - she had BB,tilt,tach,am/fm,buckets but NO A/C!! Someone added the a/c off a car or something not GM.

Joshua

you don't need to explain yourself man. if it's junk, part it and scrap the rest.
Besides... how else do all these ppl expect to get there mitts on tow hooks and truck tilts and all the super expensive big block pullies and brackets?

Re: check out this rare truck

Joshua is a stand up guy and I will vouch for him any day of the week. Anyone that claims he doesn't know what he is doing, is only in it to make a "killing" or is running a chop shop is sadly mistaken.

If weren't for folks like Joshua, none of us would be able to buy these highly desirable parts for OUR trucks.

I'll never understand where folks get off bashing a guy for doing something with his own property.

Re: check out this rare truck

Nothing wrong with parting trucks, guys wouldn't get alot of parts if we didn't do it. Alot of trucks would just be crushed, then NO parts for anyone. Congrats Joshua, looks like you had some good auctions!!! too bad the guy retracted his bid on the tilt, it was bringing some real good money

Thumbs up Re: check out this rare truck

i parted a 72 super 3/4 ton with tilt, am/fm/ cruise, big block once. bent frame, bondo everywhere--sometimes they just ain't worth saving or as a local junkyard owner says "it's worth more dead than it is alive". parting "well optioned" trucks is how most of us aquire our stuff to fix our own trucks.
