Re: my bad luck
Relax, they will have insurance.
I wish someone with insurance would do that to my junk. I'd love a new grille and bumper.

Re: my bad luck
Fight it. They will pay for it all, insurance companies try to pull that crap all of the time. I had a similar incident and they said they would split the costs. If you raise a stink they will pay. You should get your whole truck painted since white is a very hard color to match.

Re: my bad luck
EXACTLY!! If your truck was parked and sitting still, it is their responsibility to not hit it. Fight it. Call and voice your opinion! Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!

Re: my bad luck
Here's an idea ... post it here about 12-13 times and someone will eventually GIVE you the parts to fix it just to see all the posts go away.
That was uncalled for, I know ... I can't help it sometimes. |

Re: my bad luck
Sounds like a school district is either going to court over it or theu are going to pay for 100% or the repairs. How far from the intersection was it sitting? Get pics of exactly where and how it was sitting.
I'm not a sue everyone kinda guy but it was the driver's responsibility to avoid parked cars. If they want to get ugly about it take the district to court and file a civil suit(sp?) against the driver aswell. Lets put it this way,,,, If your standing on the middle of the sidwalk minding your own business, but blocking the path so anyone walking by had to go around you and I walk up and kick you in the jewels,,,,,whos fault is it? Yours for standing their minding your own business in my way or mine for kicking you? It would be mine for not walking around you right and for being an a$$hole? Well your truck was sitting there minding it's own business and the bus driver drove up and hit it in the jewels and from the pics,,,,just about tore them off!!!!!!! Just my $.02 though. Frank

Re: my bad luck
You hit a stationary vehicle in a Bus transporting Children....
That pretty much makes you at fault.

Re: my bad luck
I don't think we are getting the whole story. Come ClassicRedneck05, tell us the truth. Your truck was sitting there waiting for that school bus to come by so it could jump out and hit the innocent schoolbus. That's what really happened isn't CR05?
Don't give into the insurance co. Take pictures of where it happened. Pictures say a lot more than words do. As long as you were with in legal rights of parking where your truck sat (legal distance of a hydrant, not in a loading zone, no parking zone, etc...) the bus driver was at fault. No if ands or buts about it. Good luck in the case. SEA |

Re: my bad luck
5or 6 years ago i had very similar damage done on my truck and collected almost $900 from thier insurance company// it helps if you've got a friendly body shop to write you a great estimate for the frame damage

Re: my bad luck
I drive a school bus. Do NOT let them get off by taking some portion of the damages. The districts have coverage, if it is through a commercial insurance company or through the state in which you reside. Not only that, if the driver is a member of NEA (National Education Association), he/she has coverage if they are sued for something that happened on the job. The driver should also have a CDL, and (in my state) will possibly have to have submitted to a standard drug/alcohol screening after the accident, if there were students on board.
Hold their feet to the fire. Regardless of where you were parked, the driver was inattentive to his/her surroundings....which, come to think of it, isn't too much a stretch of the imagination if you have a bus load of the "little darlins" like I do. But, school bus drivers operate with close clearance every day, where I work. People on the streets, who are picking up their kids, don't park very well. I get within two feet of vehicles every day. I don't cross the double yellow lines and I'm sure I scare the living crap out of some people, who think they don't have enough room. But as long as you don't get into MY space, you're good to go. Don't give up. Hold out for the value of your loss. Talk to the superintendent of the transportation department, the School superintendent, the School Board, the State School Transportation Supervisor.....but don't give up. Remember, your taxes are what pays for the school systems.

Re: my bad luck
Ok lol i have made a nice diagram haha very colorful but the blue is where my truck was parked it wasnt right up in the corner it was quiet a few feet back and they say its an intersection because the street name change but the 2 curves are identical just one says a diff name no stop signs no stoplights NOTHING
well it wont let me make it bigger so the black lines are the streets the red dot is my house the blue is my truck the green is following where Blue Jay circle runs and the black that it ens into is Eagles Nest yes yes i know not the worlds best haha

Re: my bad luck
Geez sorry to hear about this. Is it just me, or is there an awful lot of our trucks getting nailed by other drivers while innocently parked at home?

Re: my bad luck
For the district to offer 70% is bull butter. I looked at a Google sattelite map of your streets and all I see are streets in a subdivision. Streets are not laid out based on school buses having to negotiate them. In my subdivision, I occasionally drive my bus home, parking it in my driveway. To do that, I have to turn a corner to the left, then back the bus past three houses to get to my driveway, at the end of a cul-de-sac. My bus is a flat-nose, about 40-ft long. I have to make wide turns, but I haven't hit anything, yet.
I'd ask what kind of bus it was (hood or not) and whether or not the driver was a regular driver of that type bus. For me, I hate those with a hood. They don't steer the same, something that others would say about my bus, if they normally drive one with a hood. Bottom line, if they hit your vehicle with a bus, they are liable. They are trying to make light of the situation, and we both know they are responsible.

Re: my bad luck
well i do appreciate the input on that they sent me a check for about $780.00 and its dated till this month to be cashed and im not going to I'm going to fight like hell on this i can see an accident maybe with the bus and a vehicle moving but NOT PARKED and a bus full of elementary kids on board
I was on business up in Huntsville Tx when this all happend i lost work time to drive back and handle this they sent out their Humble I.S.D. Police on this and they took pics with the buss still on my truck and all of that i still have not even touched the truck. i took pics for myself as well. but you know cops come in my neighborhood often if i was in the wrong and i was parked illegally don't ya think one of them would have given me a ticket or one of the cops when the accident happened?
