whats up!!
hey! im new to this forum, but deffinitely not new to GM trucks.
i have a '73 GMC custom 1500, 4x4 8' bed and i have no idea how many miles. 3spd on the floor with granny low. i've had it for over a year now, since june 06 the stuff i've done to it already is... rebuild most of the rear 12 bolt, replace all the brake pads and right now im rebuilding the starter motor. this has never quite on me, except when the starter quite... then i jsut pop started. it has really bad rust right where the battery is and the fender bellow (some past owner was careless me thinks) but only minimal surface rust in a couple other places, like the bottom of the doors, the whole frame though is rust free!! oh, an it was 1200 bucks. Tor P.S. when can i post pics... how many posts is it? |

Re: whats up!!
haha, yeah, it is a little rusty in the bay... but, oh well, it still runs
well, untill the engine goes, like goes with a bang, i don't think i'll be doing to much to it besides some new mud terriens and fixing the bits of rust and some new paint here and there. when the engine does go i'll drop a new powerhouse in it and a lift, 4 maybe 6 inch along with dana 60's oh and a new winch, the one thats on there is either really really old or so weak its sad! |

Re: whats up!!
hey, I've got a 73 chev. and mine too had a rusty battery box that looked like it came from a leaking battery at one time. It even looked like it had spilled on the pass. side fenderwell. Picked up a set of inner federwell on craigslist that was almost new for forty bucks. and got a new battery box at lmc parts for around thirty bucks. both were an easy swap for a rookie like me, and when that stuff is out of the way its a good to scrap a wire brush the whole area and rattle can the whole area with your favorite rust prevent paint. I like napa's version in flat black. go for it and lots of luck. bob
