plug wires over or under?
For those of you that have your ram horn manifolds on a sbc. Do you run your wires over or back under and up? My 67 has been converted to HEI and it has some junk wires on it!
I want to put a set of Taylor's or MSD's on it but not sure which one's to get. I believe the 90 degree ends under would be better. I am going for a set of precut if possible as I hate to splice my own. Thanks! Mike

Re: plug wires over or under?
I bought a set of Taylors "precut". They were too short to put in the stock position (under the manifolds) so I had to run them on top. If you want to put them in the stock position, I think you would have to buy the ones that you put the ends on yourself.

Re: plug wires over or under?
If you want to route your wires underneath ask for a set for a 78 Corvette.
That year used an HEI and ramhorns. I always end up with a couple wires that are too long but maybe I'm not routing them around the starter correctly.

Re: plug wires over or under?
I run the Vette wires and they work great. Pardon the mess, this is my 365 day a year, 100 mile commute daily driver.

Re: plug wires over or under?
I'm going to use Kingsborne when I get ready to put my motor in.
They suggested sending my original in to have as exact duplicate made for the new HEI. But now I'm going to request the corvette wires. s/t

Re: plug wires over or under?
From the pics it looks like the wires to the front cylinders are going behind the manifold. Are there heat shields there to protect the wires?

Re: plug wires over or under?
Some guys do run them over the valve covers, where you can keep an eye on them.
I run BB wires with straight ends. They are easier to clean and the valvecovers can't leak on them like those under. I get trucks in here all the time with an engine miss from plug wires that are burned from touching the mans and you can't see the damage without removing them for inspection. Re: plug wires over or under?
When I had my rams horn manifolds on my SBC I ran my ACCEL superstock wires around the back, under, and up to the spark plugs. The set I had was long enough to reach nicely with a little extra slack. Then I just used ties to keep them away from the manifolds.
Now with my Dynomax headers I run them around the back and drop them from above with some chrome bowtie linear wire holders on the valve covers. I also picked up some nice high temp fiberglass protector boots for them as well.

Re: plug wires over or under?
I am looking a the Taylor wires (part number 74606). They are designed for 74-80 corvette with the 90 degree boots. I plan on putting some heat shields on just to be on the safe side along with the dividers.
Also a good price at 47.00.

Re: plug wires over or under?
I also used late 70's Corvette wires with good success:
