power for elec choke
will the old points distributor wire(yellow wire) supply enough power for and electric choke on a qjet?
I am running HEI and this wire is jsut hanging there taped off can I use it? Thx, Burlinator

I'll bet it will make it function, more or less. The problem is that wire is only going to supply around 9 volts. Your choke is made and calibrated for 12.

eliminate the yellow wire, it ran from + at coil down to the R post on solenoid, and tape off the end of the white wire that also ran to + on the coil.
run you a new 14 guage wire from the batt terminal on HEi cap to the fuse panel wher eit says ign unfused(spade terminal), and run you an inine fuse around 15 or 20 amp, easycake good luck |

When I put the HEi on mine, it only had one yellow wire going to the coil that had 12 volts all the time (no white wire) I took the yellow wire off of the solenoid, the yellow wire that I took off of the coil still had 12 volts. I know it wasn't suppose to be like that, but?

I used that wire but I went back into the harness and cut off the "resister" wire and replaced with a 16 ga automotive wire. That original "resister"wire will give you a 12V reading until you put a load on it then it drops.
