OMFG! Please help

I have 2 major issues:

I just got my disc brake conversion kit finished and guess what . . . I RECEIVED THE WRONG SPINDLES! I ordered stock height and got drop. I lowered the jack and the damn thing just kept going, and going, and going -- I'm like "WTF"!

I already sent Paul an email so I'm sure he'll make it right one way or the other. I have 2 options: get stock spindles and put those on or get rear drop springs to match. My rollers are 275/60-15s on 15x10s.
My first question is what would you do?
Anyone got pics of a LWB with a 2.5/4 drop and those wheels/tires?
Argh! I didn't really want a dropped truck but since it's half done, I'm considering it.

2nd issue:

I bled the brakes and my left front caliper is not getting fluid. It's not getting through the prop. valve, I know that for sure. I guess I either have a bad prop. valve or I have the lines switched/valve upside down. The booster and valve are from a disc/drum 71/72 C20.
Anyone have a disc/drum valve from a C20? Are they the same as a C10?
Anyone know for sure how the prop valve is supposed to be positioned and which lines go where? I would be very grateful to know this for sure.

2 big SNAFUs in one night plus my damn sway bar won't fit. Jeez!!!

Just for grins, how can you tell if your booster is bad?

I'm about discouraged on this deal, I had hoped to drive her this weekend. Thanks for any help.

Jason

HTe master cylinder on a C/20 & C/30 are plumbed differant than a C/10. The lines are backwards.
I would go get the proper one myself.

Personally I've come to realize that a little drop makes the truck look more solid and less grandfatherly, if you know what i mean.

I've settled on a 3.5" drop in the front. Don't know about the back yet. I don't think I want rake, so it'll have to be lower!

I'd stick with it.

Hi, WOW did the box say stock height on them? I was positive it did and my invoice I pulled off the box shipped to you and stapled to our copy of your invoice says they were stock height spindles. I believe it was my suppliers fault that 2 1/2" drop spindles were in the box. But either way I'll make it right. If you don't mind could you measure from the upper or lower ball joint mounting point to the spindle pin to see what its distance is and let me know.
In regards to making it right tell me what you want to do and I'll go along with it. You said in your email to us you were considering staying dropped.
If you want to go drop in rear I'll sell you our springs we normally sell for $114.95pr for $95 on the pair delivered free with new upper and lower spring cups to mount them thrown in for free. Or if you don't mind removing the ones that are currently on it I will issue a call tag and ship you stock height spindles no cost to you + throw in 2 new poly tie rod boots in case you damage your outer boots on tie rod ends removing them.
I am extremely sorry this has occured and if at all possible I need you to confirm that the box says stock height on it and not 2 1/2" drop. It will be stamped on the box.
The reason I want to confirm this is if the error is all my fault I want to know, but if our supplier miss boxed the the spindles I need to let them know.
I'll try calling you later today!!!!! and again you have my sincerest heartfelt appoligies.

Yeah, so far, Paul has been a pleasure to deal with. As long as he keeps this up, I'll never deal with anyone else again.

Still lookin for pics or diagrams of the proper C20 prop valve setup. I don't want to have to spend another $50-100 if I don't have to, I'm already pushing it on the budget here. Anyone got specifics?

Thanks and keep 'em coming!

longhorn, what exactly do you mean backwards? I currently have the thing where the little rubber nipple points forward and the brake light deal is on top. Brake lines from the bottom are front to front and rear to rear as are lines from valve to MC. I had to use adapters on most of the lines, should I have to with C10 lines and C20 valve. Anyone?

lowered lonbed

2.5 spindles, 1" springs in front and 4" springs in rear. 275/60r15 on 15x10 might fit without the 1" springs. I have 15x8 on the front.

I'm not sure what type of drop spindles you recieved but just remember there are issues to deal with if they are not specific for 67-72. It's worth it in my mind, but changing the rear springs can take some work. Check out this suspension link re: 73 and up spindles...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=24360

On a C/10, the front resevoir is for the rear brakes, and the rear resevoir is for the front brakes.
On a C/20 and C/30, they are visa versa...front resevoir is for front brakes, and rear is for rear.

Thanks, Alaskan!
Couple of quick ?s . . .
Are there a total of 4 lines coming off that valve/block? DOes the one coming off the back (right in the pic) go to the rear wheels?

Thanks!!

Yes, there are a total of 4 lines, and the line off the rear of the block goes to the rear brakes. The line off the lower front goes to the front brakes and has a tee in it near the drivers side A arm at the back of the crossmember. If you can't get fluid to one brake maybe there is a crushed line or the bleeder is no good, try removing the line at the wheel cylinder and try to push fluid threw. Couple more things when bleeding the brakes start at the drivers side rear and work counter-clockwise, this will exspell any air bubbles and any crud in the fluid. And the fluid WILL remove paint very nicely if left uncleaned, wash with dish soap and water.
Hope to see some pics of it soon.

Thanks Alaskan! Well, I finally got the brake thing figured out. Had a bad prop valve! Got it all working and my booster is bad too! LOL, what are the odds of BOTH of those being bad? Anyhow, A new booster should fix me up. Then all I lack is my sway bar and the engine (God willing). I'll get some pics of her when she's on the road.

As far as the spindles, I think I'm gonna go stock height. Even though Paul is willing to cut me a great deal and I might like lowered, I think I'll need that rear spring money for my engine swap. Stuff inevitably pops up and I'd hate to embark with no cushion.

Whew, thought my head was gonna explode. Those damn brakes kicked my ass for a solid week!

Thanks again!
Jason

Well, I'm going to go back to stock as I originally intended. Too many concerns about bottoming and towing/hauling issues. It was very tempting and I almost did it. Thanks to all who posted pics and advice. I liked the stances you all showed me but just wasn't ready to make the leap, for practical reasons.

Paul is having my spindles picked up and sending out the stock ones and picking up the costs. It appears that his supplier just sent the wrong ones, no huge deal but Paul is making it right and earning my business from here on. His stuff is top notch as is his communication and integrity. I heartily recommend anyone getting anything from Paul anytime they need anything he carries.

AHH! I put my lines on backward then! front res to front and back to back, brakes work, but will this make a diff in the way they perform? are the piston sizes different or something? I had no idea! damn, if I change it this means I get to bleed my brakes too, oh well, probably for the best. Thanks for posting the question!
