Disconnecting emergency brake cables....
...how? All I have left to disconnect is the U-bolts and springs, and my differential is out! Then comes the trailing arms.
I've got about as much slack in the e-brake cable as I'm going to get, and it doesn't look like I'm even close to being able to pull one of the keyed ends out of the bracket that's holding both ends together. Is there a tool I need to use?

this may sound dumb, but if your talking up near the front (where it splits into the two diff sides) i havea tension rod, and then i just make sure the ebrake is off, and pull it apart, maybe your ebrake is still good,(and tight)there for it doesnt want to fall ofHEHE

When you get the u-bolts out push the rearend forward a little, or back the nuts off on the front adjuster, or remove the e-brake arm in the drum.

Well, if you're talking about where it connects to the rear drum, here's what I did:
Got two pairs of channel locks and pulled the spring back until I could thread the cable out. Took me about a dozen tries and I felt like I'd done a heavy workout! There might have been some expletives thrown in there too. ![]() Good luck!

No, I don't think I need to go to that extreme. There's a clip about 1/2 way up the trailing arms where both cable ends terminate. It looks like if you had enough slack you could turn one of the cables to pull the end through the center of the clip, and poof they'd be loose. I realized today that all I need to do is either slide the rear-end forward (which I now basically have totally loose from the truck) or just remove the trailing arms. Either way I'd end up with enough slack.
Back to work...
