Make trailer using C20 frame and bed
I have a good C20 frame and bed and want to make a trailer. Looking for information on where to cut the frame and the size of hitch to use.
Thanks Don MN

Re: Make trailer using C20 frame and bed
I can' tell you where to cut the frame, but you gotta think about the size of the channel and know that it's not going to be a light trailer. With that said, a minimum size ball is going to be a 2-inch, so the coupler will have to be that set-up. A 2 and 5/8-inch coupler may be appropriate, but it all depends on what you plan to haul, i.e., how much weight you MAY be hauling when you pull it.
What about trailer brakes? I know you won't want to do hydraulics, but it's possible with a surge set-up, to use the brakes that are already on the axle.

Don, I got one out there already cut and made into a trailer, I'll get a pic today for you. The only thing I don't like about it is, its a 3/4 ton coil spring, they tend to sway more, leaf would be better. I go 2 inch ball hitch with no problems. Randy

Re: Make trailer using C20 frame and bed
Definately go with leafs...I had a coil spring frame and bed and it was the most horrible pulling trailer I have ever pulled. Even with very stiff shocks it kept acting like it wanted to roll over.
