estimated hp of 400 small block
just wondering how much horse power you guys think i have, its a 400 smallblock, not a bored 350, with 2 1/2 inch headers 4 barrel eldebrock carb, slightly raised holly intake, flex fan blades

compression is 9: 1 and the rest is stock for the 6.6 litre out of a 72 caprice classic

That engine was rated at 170 HP in '72 with an 8.5 CR - it was rebuilt and upgraded? I'd give it the benefit of CID and say 260 - 275HP at the flywheel max. Last edited by Billla; 12-20-2007 at 04:45 PM. |

caprice classic article claims they have 260 max stock at the flywheel, and im sorry i forgot to mention this is the turbo edition 4 bolt main, and thanks, i have done much research on this motor cause it was in the truck when i bought it and this bad boy will scream, with the B&M ratchet shifter, i mean ill do burnouts with no brake just floring it for a good 50 ft

This is not a unique attribute of a truck with 70/30 weight distribution

Just out of criousity,,,,,,,,,what is the tire, wheel and gear ratio?
A short/skinny wheel and tire combo could be lit up with a v8 only running on 7.

turbo fire yes, and i know the weight ratio is way higher in the front, i mean with 3:73 rear end gears and and 265/70R15 this truck does alright
