Cost to rebuild TH350 w/ converter

It has been a good 8 years or so since I had one built but it seems the cost has increased dramatically. What are you guys paying for a stock rebuild with a mild shift kit? Does anyone know some one in the Tyler TX area? Thanks

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

I paid $300 for a TH400 with shift kit; I may be bad wrong, and I'm sure someone will speak up if I am, but I would think they cost about the same to rebuild.

Try www.phoenixtrans.com. Looks like it's closer to $1000. I'll do mine myself when the time comes.

I just pulled the one out of the '68 and they charged me 385.00 with tax for a simple rebuild and converter.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

It's one of those "You get what you pay for" things. Low dollar rebuilds usually don't include things such as new bushings, thrust washer/bearings, roller clutches and so on. I would say a "Good" rebuild will start around $400 and go up depending on what hard parts might be needed.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

when i dont have time to do it myself around here i pay between 250-400 for labor. i buy the rebuild kit so that i know i am getting quality parts and the converter(usually high stall). kit and conveter for my last th350 was 200 so i paid about 500 for a pretty strong rebuild.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

Depends on what part of the country you in. Locally seems the going rate is 250.00-400.00 for a bench rebuild. Meaning if you take them just the tranny not the whole truck.

It would also depend on what hard parts are needed. Obviously if just the wear parts it will be a bit cheaper.

I've spent as much as 500.00 for a rebuild with converter and shift kit but I had to replace the pump to, and as little as 200.00 just for the wear parts.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

I always get a new torque converter with a rebuild since a bad one will blow a tranny and there`s no way to test if a converter is bad or good. This was learned from a top transmission builder that would not do a trans w/o supplying a new converter.Taking the whole truck about doubles the cost,I know that.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

I did mine for about $200 including all new bushings, thrusts, band, converter and all. I got the trans for a case of Bud and did it all myself.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

I use a guy in Kemp if you know where that is. (Near Kaufman) he is the best I have ever found. He uses everything in the kit, cuts no corners,I paid less than $300 for mine. I have brought him 4-5 over the past three years though for different cars I have bought and sold. If you want his number PM me. $50 for the converter...

700r4 that was trashed, he charged me $450.00
5 spd. manual out of my 4x4 s-10 TRASHED-$500.00 with new clutch and t.o. bearing. He replaced all the grears but one, bearings,,,etc.

Re: Cost to rebuild TH350 w/tourqe converter

Guess I should of specified also that my Th400 rebuild didn't include the converter and it was a bench rebuild.
