Question popping sound at idle

my truck has a popping sound at idle and somebody told me once it was because of the 5 and 7 plugs wires touching, well ive made sure the wires arent touching and zip tied them up so they wont but ive still got that popping sound

i havent pulled the plugs yet but i plan to try and do that tomorrow to check and clean them and see what happens

Re: popping sound at idle

Mine started doing that last week. I removed the plugs and found one of them that was bad. I went ahead and replaced them all.

To be honest, I've never had success cleaning them. I've always just replaced them. For about $10 or so, you might be better off having a set with you just in case.

fresh engine , tired engine? pop through the carb or exaust? you could have burntvalves or not enough lash. have you done a compression test? also check your ignition timing
