really, there are tons of people on this forum that are alot lower than you. sorry for spilling the beans. cutting coils and low profile tires for a 15in wheel will get you that low easy. (I wouldnt suggest cutting coils though.)

Where did you score the springs and shocks? I haven't seen 5/7" spring drops through the normal truck part channels?

Re: my slammed 65 chebby
rss396 thanks for the reply on the 283. I have had a lot of v8's but never a 283. I hope it will be enough. I honestly just want a burnout machine. But as for the coils. I got them from cpp. They did me right. I actually got the 3inch front coils since that is the lowest they had. And cut the coils to get the 5 inches. And the rears are the 5" drop coils with the 2 inch blocks. Everything looks great and rides perfect.

Re: my slammed 65 chebby
Nice truck man, I like it as is sits now.
Everytime I see a stepside w/ a drop like yours, it makes me wanna do the same. Unfortunately, I have leafs in the rear, so it makes it a little more difficult. Sweet VW too, I'm also into old air-cooled's, but of the domestic variety. (corvairs) |

Nice truck. I like it just like it sits now. Stop work, don't do anything else to it.

19gmc63 , look in the new issue ( feb 2008 ) of classic trucks magazine . they're showing cpp's new '63-87 chevy trailing arm conversion kit . might be the answer to lowering your truck . check it out !

Re: my slammed 65 chebby
I wish my truck had coils in the rear
For me it's either goin to have to be a flip kit or drop leaf springs. Both of which are not goin to be cheap.... |

Re: my slammed 65 chebby
My 61 short bed has torsion bar suspension in the front and coils in the rear. I have been busy working on my 50 and have not had a chance to lower the 61 yet but plan to as soon I pull (drive!!) the 50 out of the shop. I would like for the 61 to sit as low as merlin65's truck. Not sure if the torsion bar suspension can be adjusted that far and still ride and drive decent. I will find out in a few weeks when I adjust the bars and cut 1 1/2 coils out of the rear.

Re: my slammed 65 chebby
Now that green truck is hot. Thats color and stance might be to much for the regular world to handle. And I love that desert scenery. I will probably never go that low, but if I did, if i did, if i did. lol. thanks everbody..

Re: my slammed 65 chebby
Dinos63 everytime you stick one of your pics on here i get jealous. I put disc brakes on the front of mine off a suburban so i put 2.5 inch drop spindles and 2 inch drop coils and the rear 5 inch coils with a c-notch from cpp. So merlin65 you are sitting that low in the back without a notch? Man i bet thats bumpie.
