Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
I'm sure most of you know I spent ove a year looking for a 67/68 short bed. I didn't care really if it was a stepper or a fleety. I looked and looked, scowered every paper, online sites, CraigList, you name it I was looking! I am very happy with the 68' Long bed Truck I found and she is going to be a beautiful girl when I'm done. BUT>>>>> I am at my wifes company Christmas party, oh sorry , Holiday Party LOL, and talking hot rod stuff with some guys and one of them says "Oh you like them Chevy trucks" I say "Well yes, kinda have a thing for the 67-72 era". Long and short of it ...He says "I'v got a 67' shortbed stepside that I want to sell, it's not pretty but a real nice truck" I say, "Is it a small back window truck"? Reply- "yes it is how did you know".
So anyway, I am going to check out this diamond in the rough that's sitting in his backyard about 3 miles from my house. I am not interested in buying it for myself but I know how hard they are to fine and if one of you is looking for a small window 67' stepper, let me know. I am going to take pics and post them. Doesn't sh!t like this happen all the time??? 3 miles from my house???!!! Alex

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
it tends to happen that way. after looking for a long, long, long time, you find what you're looking for. then out of the blue, you see them everywhere.

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
I think that is the rule. As soon as I bought my '67, there were a couple that came up... I had been looking for quite some time and never even saw one. But I'm very happy with the truck I have now, and I guess that's the way you have to look at it.

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
It happens to me all the time. I hold out on purchasing something, and then I finally buy it and not a day later a better deal has popped up.
Can't wait to see pics of the diamond...

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
I bought a 67 small window stepper from a friend some years ago. Didn't run, but is was pretty and no rust! Unfortunately my wife said I could only keep one truck. At the time I didn't realize how rare the step was, but that didn't matter I kept the family 68 we had since I was 4 and sold the stepper. I wish I still had it. I never did see it in town again. probably sitting in a field rotting...

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
All 67's were standard with a small back glass. The big window was an option. Technically the large back window is worth more because there were fewer of them made.

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
That's one of those questions - if it's worth more to you, then it's worth more, but in my opinion, the short fleets are worth more.

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
My take on small windows is I like them on stepsides.`67 was the first year of this style truck. And,although trucks began the road to comfort and convenience in the`50s,The 67-72 style broke the trucks into the modern era more than those before. The 60-66 were the first "designed around a wide bed" they have a more dated look(which I love).I see the 67-72s as the transition years.GM called them "The New Breed".
Anyway...I see the 67 small window stepside as the cross between the old and new all in one.The narrow bed and window with alot of metal in the corners of the top just looks neat from behind, like an older Advanced Design truck. They`re just a small percent of the overall group of 67-72s,as well as the earliest. They`re all cool and there`s are as many factors to determine values as there are people that like them,it seems. Go get that thing if you can.Think about what to do with it later.

Re: Doesn't stuff like this always happen???
that happens with me and tools all the time. especially when i gotta use the bone yard's tools. i find all the ones that i don't need currently, then when i find that i grabbed the wrong ones i can't find the ones that i need but at the time i thought that i didn't need. but the one thing that i think looks cool about the small back windows is when its with a lwb and its been lowered and done up in flat. when i bought my 72 i was actually looking at others which were already sold or weren't worth me looking at, or were out of my budget. it needed to get towed due to needing to be tuned, tabs, and other issues and the guy towed it for an additional $40

Like at a swap don't walk on and go back later. Most of time its gone when you go back. Lost a steerin' wheel at a Super Chevy like that.
