Rear Differential Question????
I have a 71 coil sprung rear(one legger) in my 68. I found a posi-unit in a 73-up 1/2 ton 2wd truck.
Can I can swap the carriers from the 73-up into my 71 housing and still use my 71 axles. I am trying to learn has much as I can before I go and make a deal for the rear out of the truck. So any info would be appreciated. P.S. Both diffs. are 12 bolts.

Re: Rear Differential Question????
Later/earlier doesn`t matter. But over 3.73/under 3.73 does. There are two series in carriers and have to be same/same.I have 3.42s (posi) which never came in our years that I`ll swap into my truck`s rear soon,I hope.Mine has 3.08s but need replaced due to damage.

Re: Rear Differential Question????
Ok, now lets say the newer one had 3:08 gears, Does that mean I can put in a 3:42 on that carrier without much trouble?
I put 3:73 gears in Nova I had, it originally had a 2:41 gear. I had to put a spacer in between the gear and carrier.
