Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

Well i was in the garage cleaning up when I got the inspiration to swap out my steering. Well everything went pretty smooth and I am happy with the results... I am trying to keep a stock looking interior...

Re: Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

Yes the old one was very worn! When I found this site I began searching for a replacement and I found out that some of the new year would swap out so I looked for one that would look right home inside the cab area... I am not one for the bling bling, I like stock appearance in the cab area... Next install will be my gauges... I have to mate the painless gauge harness I purchased to the existing harness...

Re: Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

Man, your old wheel definitely pulled its tour of duty. You need to hang that up on the wall of your garage.

Re: Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

That newer wheel is actually the replacement steering wheel that GM offered for our trucks in the 70's if I remember correctly.
PS: Not one for Bling huh, then what's with the fancy walnut burl instrument cluster? Is it real walnut?

That burl wood is grown-up sophisticated bling.

Re: Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

Explanation on the Burl wood. Well summit racing had them on clearance for $69.00 and that met with my budget build! I guess we can say that is a little bling on a budget. My plans where to paint it black eventually when I get serious about doing the whole interior.

Re: Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

The burl reminds me of my late father's old pipes and humidor. Too pretty to paint black, now you gotta make the glove box match.

Re: Steering Wheel Swap Complete!

I don't about the burl wood since it's discontinued, but I have seen a guy on ebay selling the matching glove box doors to go with the Covan's brushed alum and carbon fiber inst clusters he sells. Check it out, you might find one's available.
