Will a 60-66 C20 fit on a "pipe top" 16' trailer?

Just wondering if anyone has hauled one of these trucks, a C10 or C20 on a 16' pipe top utility trailer.

Mine is the normal full width with a fold up expanded metal ramp.

I figure it might be a little tight, but I don't have a truck around to measure.

Thanks

The inside width between the pipe top is 76.5"

Looks like the ramp will have to come off after loading too.

This is going to suck... but I just measured mine for you, and at the widest point it is 77 inches exactly, I went outside to outside on the chrome moldings. Good luck - Jerry

If you can squeeze it in, you can just chain the ramp to the frame of the truck in back up as high as it will go. Be easier than taking the ramp off.

Hey Jerry,

Thanks for doing that!

The 76.5" that I measured is 11" up from the deck. 12" and above the deck is all clear. maybe the truck is skinnier down low?

You've got it then......the truck tapers down. You'll have to crawl out the window if anything else sticks up off the sides, but it'll work! My c20 actually sits 13.5 inches off the ground with the tires aired up.

I've used my dads (same kind of trailer) 16 foot to move my 66 c10 around from time to time but that was without doors or fenders and it was tight. I borrowed a buddy's 18 foot when it was all intacted and it barley fit and i had to crawl through the window to get out. Also it was drove on and off straight as an arrow. Good luck.

I could not ever get a hold of him. I sent him PM's and Email?

I like the look of the Big Back Window. I found another one in Red Oak,TX it had very little rust but looked rode hard and you know the rest. It was cheap but needed a ton of work.

I wound up buying a 64 C20 from a Stovebolter in Kansas. Small back window though. I should have the truck home in a few weeks if everthing works out.

This truck will not fit on my trailer but my Brother-in-law has a 83" wide 18' long utility I can borrow.

Thanks for all your input Guys! I will post some pictures of the truck when I get back from my truck trip.

Happy New Year!

Here are some pictures of the truck I bought last Saturday. It fit on the trailer well and I could open the door too.

The first picture is the towing rig.

Re: Will a 60-66 C20 fit on a "pipe top" 16' trailer?

I am glad too. I just figured it would have been a tighter fit and I would have stressed out all the way home with it. I had about 3-4 inches per side and 8-10 inches front and back

The only rust on the truck is both front fenders behind the wheels which you can see one in the pictures. There is a little on the inside of the cab where it comes down to meet the floor in front of the doors. I guess the cowl leaks or the door weather strip maybe. There is a little surface rust here and there. Overall the frame & body is in great shape.

The weather here is nasty & wet right now so I haven't had a chance to take some better "off trailer" pictures.
