Does anyone have any info on building a super-short bed truck using a blazer frame. I did a search and could not find much and only one picture. A neighbor has one and I've always thought it was cool. I'm trying to talk him out of it, but no luck yet, at least he's "thinking" about it. Anyway, easier to buy than build. But, if he don't s*** or get off the pot, I'm going to build my own.

Just mainly pics. Also, how much fabrication, if any, is needed to the body mounts on the blazer to make the bed fit? Also, how much to cut out of the bed, I think it's 11".

this is all i have now. i didn't build this truck. it looks llike they used the front cab mounts. at the rear of the cab it looks like they just drilled through the cab floor behind the tank and through the top of the frame rail and bolted it fast with a 3" body lift. so your front mounts on the blazer frame may work but you will need rear cab mounts from a truck frame and most likly bed mounts

I think they look good as a short stepside,not so good with a fleetside.I think if I had the frame I'd lengthen it and use a regular length bed before cutting the bed down though..

That's a thought. I like them as stepsides too. Besides I wouldn't cut up a good fleetside bed. Mine will be a stepper.

Wibilly - thanks for the pic! Here's the only other one I have. I don't know who owns it.

Heck take a blazer and just graft a truck cab onto it

This is close C10 with K5 running gear 3/4 ton with one ton driveline by High Angle Driveline I am going to use this to tow my boat

I talked to a guy that built one and he said you had to put in a 2" body lift to make it work on a blazer frame. Does that sound right? I don't really want a lift if I don't have to have one.

David,I don't think you need one when using a 69-72 Blazer/Jimmy chassis.Maybe it has a newer blazer chassis under it? Then it would need a body lift.Another thought if considering lengthening a blazer/jimmy chassis to put a full size bed on,would be just looking for a longbed 4wd chassis and shortening it.Then you wouldn't have to change body/bed mounts you will have to do with a Blazer/Jimmy chassis.I thought there was a longbed chassis for sale in your area a while back..I'll have to see if I can find it.

He said it was a 72 blazer frame. I think it has to do with getting the body line on the cab high enough to match the body line on the bed. He had blocks on the cab and on the front and back of the bed, but not in the middle of the bed (looking through the wheel openings). There, the bed brace barely cleared the hump in the frame.

Hmm,don't know.There's a 1/2 ton frame for sale in Colorado in the parts board.It might be worth checking out if your up for a drive...Nice Camaro collection! If it wasn't winter I'd be out driving my 68 RS...It's been sitting under a car cover for awhile now..

allthe trucks posted seem to be lifted in some way, did you try doing a search using the word trazer? it seems like i remember one a year or so ago that seemed to sit at normal hight

Here is short step im working on it on longwheel base frame 22.5 inches shorten and lengthened green truck required raising cab and radiator support 1.5 inches for the extended cab st sit on frame
Also hear is a photo chop of blazer frame idea! useing factory cap useing saws all A customizers best friend

The black and champagne truck is one started by Lil John Buttera and finished (I think) by Boyd Coddington. It was a while from the time it was started until it was finished. It is one of the nicest customs of this body style I have ever seen. Joe McPherson, of San Francisco, has another, although his isn't shortened.

The unibody blazer ones look a bit "cleaner" IMHO. Then again, the unibody burbs with grafted rear cabs don't look as good as the crewcabs with a separate bed.
