Pics of my friend's '68
Here's some pics of my old friend's '68 that he bought new. He's 82 years old and still drives it every day. It's had the engine rebuilt once (102K miles on the odo. now) and it's been repainted twice, I think. It has some rust problems in the cowl that we're currently battling. (TREES KILL COWLS!) It's a C10 with 327 and TH400. Around 15 options, I think, including AC, PS, PB, Custom pkg., gauges, front stabilizer. No pics of the interior since it was at picture time in the middle of a fuse box transplant.
Did I mention he's a retired animal science professor?

Very nice!
Any shots of that 327 or interior???? I'd detail the hub caps and tailgate correctly and loose the mirrors if it were mine. At least it's not ruined.

No interior pics because it was receiving a fusebox transplant and was being rewired in there. I didn't take any underhood pics, either. Maybe next time I get ahold of a digicam.
Yeah, the mirrors really bug me. They just look all wrong. I'd ask him if I could replace them (and he'd probably let me) but it would leave holes in the door. Good idea on the hubcaps. I'll surprise him with some freshened hubcaps when I hand the pickup back over to him. I assume they looked like this when new? (Please confirm or deny.)

Yes GMCBLU, those are correct hubs for 68. The 67's were similar but painted white w/red markings.
BTW I have a pair of pretty nice original mirror arms that look to be the same body color as that truck. If he wants them he can have them for shipping $$$. (I just looked and I guess I only have one.) I bet he "uggraded' those mirrors because the small round ones are so hard to see and still has his old ones sitting around. Does he still have the smog pump on that 327??

Looks good.. the mirrors look exactly like the ones on a buddy's '90 Bronco II (that we just replaced the slave cylinder in.. what a pain!).

Nope, no smog pump anymore. It's been gone ever since I've "known" the pickup.
More likely the bodyman put the new mirrors on when he repainted, and kept the old one(s). I'll ask him if he'll take a good deal on a mirror arm, but I doubt he'll go for it. I can hear him say the he already paid to have the olds one(s) removed, why pay again to get'em put back on? LOL Thanks, Ben
