Concealed Fuel Neck in my Stepside

I am getting ready to fabricate a concealed fuel neck in the D/S rear marker light. There have been a few threads buy members who have done this, so I'm gonna try it. My biggest issue was down sizing the end of an S-10 neck (2 inches) to the fill neck on the blazer poly tank (1-1/4 inch).

Was gonna use exhaust pipe but could not find 1-1/4 inch. 3/4 inch buy the way was an big jump. 1-1/4 inch copper tube was too soft.

Here's what I came up with. Our local plumbing supply house (not H/D or Lowes) suggested the following reducers: Copper 2 inch to 1-1/2 inch reducer then a Copper 1-1/2 inch to 1-1/4 inch reducer. The 2 reducers measure 4 inches long. Everything slips in real nice and I'm gonna have it tig welded for clean connection. Here's some early stage pics:

That is exactly how I did it. Only difference i I used exhaust reducers from the auto parts store. I don't have any idea how copper would react with gas. I'm sure it would be fine, but I might check first. Plus your welding two disimilar metals, and I don't know how easy that would be either.

That was my thought, I don't believe you can weld copper at least most folks can't.

I would go with the exhaust fittings as jorgensensc said he did. that is pretty much the normal thing to do. A Good muffler shop can also swedge the fittings up for you exactly how you want them.

Hey guys,

This has already been finished and I have changed plans and have gone back to the stock tank since this was posted back in January. We Silver Soldered everything together. Tig Welding would have been another way. Thanks for the input.
