Nice !!!!! Did they use different material in the center of the buckets than they used on the bench? My bench is kinda a houndstooth pattern . Just curious . Bob

Re: '68 50th Anniversary Bucket Seat Covers

Thanks...I can't wait to get them on my buckets and into the truck...even if the truck is not finished...LOL!

Bob 68327, The material is a nearly perfect match for the CST option which was gold vinyl for the insert. The CUSTOM COMFORT OPTION (even though the 50th Anniversary was badged and listed as a CST) is a cloth insert on the bench seat. The buckets only came with the vinyl insert. I think I have a picture of the cloth insert material that I will post for you.

My small block Longhorn is a CUSTOM COMFORT OPTION truck so I am having a bench seat done with cloth inserts for it. That will be next...I already have the material!

Re: '68 50th Anniversary Bucket Seat Covers

You guys are generous with your praise. I am still learning the nuances of the 50th Anniversary option...it really helps to have the restoration guide, some 50th promo literature and three of the trucks with the original SPIDS. It has been a real puzzle.

I will post a picture of the seats once they are done...and replace the locks on the truck...LOL!

Hmmm... wonder if I can get a custom cover for my '89 bench seat. For comfort, I'd go w/the cloth, but those covers will complete the interior!

Re: '68 50th Anniversary Bucket Seat Covers

This is going to make you all SICK!!!! These cost $265 and $28 for shipping!!!! I sent them my '67 covers, marked up with the measurements for the '68 insert panel, and some '68 CST bench vinyl samples to match the material. It cost my $17 to ship the '67 covers to them and the samples. I also included some pics of the 50th Anniversay seats to reconfirm what I wanted. The company has been posted on here before http://www.ricksupholstery.com/

They are located in Columbia, TN
Telephone: (931) 388 - 3022
Cell Phone: (931) 212 - 8906
I dealt with Donna...great gal! upholster2@gmail.com

These are not EXACT...in that the vinyl is a slightly different texture (see pics below) and the inserts are sewn, not pressed like the originals. They are exact in every other way, however. I have visited and checked out SMS and did not feel that I could afford to use SMS at this time. If this truck was a 100 pt., I would be using SMS, but I am certain they would 2-3 times as much...OUCH...but I love their work. My big block Longhorn did not come with buckets (it is also getting a mildly built 454) so it is not going to be a true 100 pt. truck...it will just look like one...LOL!

You can see in the pic below how the white is a perfect color match but the pattern is slightly different. The gold has a little more mettalic for "pop" but looks closer to the visors in these trucks than the seat gold. Not sure why there was a slight difference between the visors and the seats...it could be that the seats were just faded. The pattern on the seat vinyl looks pretty close bit I will know more on Wednesday. Also you will notice that they used a bead rather than a folded seam between the front bolster (?) and the insert. She sent this pic to show me the difference between the 50th "off-white" and the "Snow" white they normally use...I was in a panic mode when she said "off white" so she sent this pic to allay my fears. They are great people.

I will have these covers in my possession on Wednesday and hope to have them on the seats by Friday and will post the final pics then.

Have you had a chance to install your new seat covers? I just called her and they are going to make me a set in the blue. Just wondered if you were satisfied with them?

Huck, I am leaning toward some of those funky old clear plastic covers made...LOL! I saw some recently in a cab in FL. BTW...this will be my camping rig...it will be used. It is going on tour to the midwest next summer. No junkyard cruising though. I would like to do TN and the midwest board meet next summer.
