Amp Gauge
Hey All Gotta Question
I Have A 72gmc Jimmy 4x4 350 Auto And My Alternator Was Changed To A Internal Regulated By The Previous Owner Havent Found His Repair At The External Regulator But My Amp Gauge Shows Discharge At All Times (except At Key Off) I Read Somewhere That The Small Wire Off Of Alternator Goes To Volt Gauge So Does This Dude Have My Amp Gauge Reading Volts?? I Havent Gotten Too Deep Into It Yet Thought I Would Get Some Ideas Before I Get To It The Prev Owner Wasn't Much Of A Mechanic And Do You Really Run All Of The Currrent From The Alternator For The Whole Truck Through The Gauge?? Im Lost No Fires Please Lol... |

The amp meter on these trucks read the flow of electricity based on wire resistance over a length of about 3 feet so only a very small amount of power goes through the gauge.
I would suggest hooking a volt meter to your battery with the engine running. Voltage should read approximately 14.5 volts if the alternator is charging. Jim
