Can someone help with a dash pad install? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've searched the forum and cannot find anything regarding this.

I need to replace my dashpad and I'm trying to remove my old one, but for some reason it won't come loose after I remove the four screws. How else are they attached? Did they glue 'em or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are 6 or 7 stamped 3/8" nuts holding the pad on from underneath. I usually pull the glove box and dash to get at them but if you contort enough and have the right tools you can get at them. (If you don't have AC).

.Be warned however,changing the dash pad and pulling the cluster and glovebox was exactly how my worktruck turned into a full frameoff build...

Some get lucky and the end bolts are missing (or not installed) - looks like yours are still attached at the ends.

Some people don't use the end bolts when installing it - to make that next time they need to replace it or remove it that much easier...

What they said - plus some patience.

A 1/4" swivel or universal makes the job a lot easier as well.
If you are putting a radio, center vent, cluster, ANYTHING else in the dash, put it in after you put the dash pad on.

Disconnect the neg battery terminal first. You short the hot lead on the headlamp switch if to touch it with the wrench or extension.
