oil leak, easy fix or not?
i've pretty much isolated the source of my earl leak to the frt. and rear seal when i did my cam change last winter.now,my question is this,is there ANY way possible to do this w/out un-bolting the motor mounts and tranny mount and lifting up the motor to access the pan from over the frt. cross member? i know the tranny and the inspection cover are right there in the way to keep you from pulling the oil pan straight back to access, but is there any tricks from any 'o you mechanics?suppose i'm gonna have to take it to a shop to put up on a lift and do it the logical way,but i'm such a cheap bastard and i'd rather do it myself if poss.!thanks.

the only way i've ever had any luck is to take the motor mount bolts out and jack up the engine to get the pan off while in the truck

You want to know what i did?Well anyways.i pulled the motor, put on a stand and replaced all the seals and gaskets, and made her pretty too!!!Id rather pull a motor than unbolt it,jack it up work on it hasseling with it on my back.but thats just me.or just let it leak, keep adding oil, then youll never have to change it

my engine leaked oil like nuts before i made an attempt to slow it down. the engine my truck came with had the old style canister oil filter and i switched to spin on. all that it took was a spin on adapter. that really stopped the leak. before it was about a quart a week now its about every month.
