Where their labels on the dash originally?

I am talking about labels for the headlight, wiper, choke and lighter. As far as I can tell they were never labeled from the factory. It seems strange since these were intended as work vehicles and probably had different drivers that wouldn't know what all the knobs did.

It reminds me of the first time I drove the Medium duty Ford flatbed at my old job. It was a stick and the gears weren't labeled. My coworker told me "Oh, its just a standard H pattern". I started out in first ok, but I quickly found out that Reverse was where I expected second to be, whoops.

there wasnot lables but i know the 60s ford every thing was labeld 2 times but then agian the fords were very basic interiors un like ours which a very nice in comparssion

Don't think they were labelled 'til '67
choke "C" and throttle"T" were on the dish portion of each applicable knob on 60-66, lights,wipers,etc were not labelled.
not sure about pre-60 though

There were no identifiable marks or labels on the dash controls, however, the factory AC control knobs were labeled. The '60-'63 factory Deluxe heater control knobs were labeled. The '64-'66 factory Deluxe heater control knobs were unmarked, however, the markings were on the bezel instead.

The reproduction 4 speed shift knob made for the 48 thru 67 chevy pickups does not have the gear pattern on it. Whats up with that? Any repop people out there, this is a serious safety issue.

my 62 did not have labels at all, choke, lights, wipers, dome light were all blank. i found a real easy method to label them, sort of like water slide decals.

just print out in any font you want with your printer and apply tape over the area you want, cut it out and soak it in water till paper desolves, then rub paper off the tape and the ink from the paper stays on the tape, dab the water off with lint free towel or the like and place were you want it. its easy and cheap. the article stats that you should use some sort of glue! i did not use glue! i remember from when i used to work for a lettering decal company is that the use of water on a decals is used to adjust the decals were u want them, then use a squeegee to get the water from under it, the adhesive after drying is still intact.

Intereting. Thanks for the link. Since I won't be the only one driving this truck I think I will make labels in a font similar to writting in this truck.
