Is this truck anything special???
Hey guys, I picked this up today mainly for the motor. It's a 72 factory 402, but there's a couple of options I'd like to get your opinion on. It has what looks like a dealer installed cruise control, and a "special promotion" package.
Is this a fixer upper, or should I go forward with the parting out? |

Re: Is this truck anything special???
If I saw the seat I would say that it was a highlander edition. Not 100% positive.

Re: Is this truck anything special???
Do you know that it is "dealer installed cruise control"? I don't think the underhood parts are era correct; it looks like a mid-70s to late-70s design.
I vote fix the truck; it is nice.

Re: Is this truck anything special???
That is a nicely optioned truck.Highlander, tilt,HD springs,Hydro-boost...... seems like a shame to part one with those options unless you're building one you want to add them to.

By the way, the same owner has a 72 Blue and white Cheyenne Super that had 3/4 ton running gear added. 100K original miles, too. What would a good price be for one of those? It was in comparable shape to this one, but had a 350. |

Re: Is this truck anything special???
The cruise control was supposed to be dealer installed in 72, there were a hand fully that had factory optional cruise, but most were under dash like that.

Re: Is this truck anything special???
Unless were reading one of randy's (teeitup's) post when he says to hang tight cus he might have a buyer for the whole truck....people send him pages of messages just to part it....sometimes i feel like a volture just waiting to pray on a poor truck! But then i remind myself theres always flea bay to buy parts from and if a member on this board is after a truck to save it needs to be saved!

Re: Is this truck anything special???
Properly restored it would get major points from any truck crowd. Heck, it gets good points just here. It is neat to seem most of the options still intact, especially the smog pump. Is it a CA truck or from another state?

Re: Is this truck anything special???
If you do part it I want the smog parts. If you keep it I would love to receive detailed photos of the smog system (hose routing, etc.)
Thanks DANTIP |

Re: Is this truck anything special???
If you were'nt on the other side of the country, I would say don't part it....Trade it! To ME! A yellow and white truck very similar to that one except in show condition is what got me interested in these trucks. I will probably never paint my blue one yellow and white but I do intend to make it blue and white. One day I would like to have a yellow and white one though. Great score! BTW, I think the hub caps are for a '73 or later.

When you come down for the meet in July I have an old 68 C/10 307 3 speed that still has all the smog stuff on it. Belt is still on and pump is quite and all the tubes and fittings look good.
