What did you get done? 01/27
I spent Saturday watching my daughter play volleyball. Got up at 4:30 to drive to the tournament, then drove home late last night. They placed 1st in their division, so it was a good day.
Today I spent time running errands, that got me nowhere. I spent the afternoon cleaning up my daily drivers since it rained all week. My two black trucks looked gray, so I spent a few hours detailing them. What did you get done?

finally had a day off today. I installed a new headunit and some rear speakers in the blazer, then washed it and put it in the garage.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Read about the cluster brightening and gave it a whirl on my 87 wrangler, then swapped the bubs over to orange to match the factory radio and my sirius , looks GREAT!!!!
The chrome paint really brightens things up. Greased everything I could and did an oil change..... I guess I never said anything about this unit . its an 87 chevy wrangler my grandparents bought new. 305-700r4, air tilt cruise leather wheels, am/fm tape, but no power windows or locks. its 2 tone brown, tan and root beer Ill have to get some picture as Im pretty sure these are a canadian truck only and they have a pretty unique paint job. its been a great truck, ive been putting on 5-6ooo km a month on it driving it to work. Oh , and I have finally finished my 2 link, hung all my suspension on my z'd and bagged 64 short step...

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Watched the kids Saturday night, wife went to a movie with a girlfriend of hers. Me and the kids played the wii, had a blast. Washed my GMC, spent some time making a list of parts for my new fuel system. Other than that, nothing.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
I finally talked my buddy Jeff, (hot trux), out of his '85 short fleetside bed! This will be for my "1/2 ton crew cab" short bed project. So I came home and made a quick dollie out of 2x4's. Hopefully I can bring it home on the trailer next weekend.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
well nothing truck related, but i did it again and i fell back into that ford crowd. since i'm having so much fun with my girlfriends truck i decided to get her a cool driver(1965 mustang w/ 347 stroker) and as we all know by now, even drivers take attention. everytime i fix something something else breaks. the 408 for the truck is almost done, next is the 700r4(have parts just need two of me and time). my little brothers truck is getting attention, just haven't posted pics. i'll get em up though!

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
I pulled the motor/trans & all the suspension stuff off the 68-Beater . . ..... again. Sometime this week I'll pull the notched crossmember out & do a trial fit of the Dropmember so I can get it off for powder-coating.
I haven't driven the 74 much because of bad weather (rain/fog). The wiper motor is squealing something fierce & get's annoying really fast. That will be one of my next projects to replace. Anyone done one recently that has any tips/suggestions?

Went and got some propane finally so I could run my heater, and got my transmission pulled. Suprisingly easy for my first time ever taking one out.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
well i finally got up in the 82 bed and cleaned out all the gravel and junk in there from the past couple of demolition jobs. I bought a can of white grease and greased the door locks and hinges and hopefully they will close easier now. . I got hold of an old buddy who will help me change the door and fender on my truck one day next week and we will see what goes on with that
I got a lead on another beater truck which i can buy for $200 and i think i have it sold for $500 and all i have to do is put a brake line into it so the fluid dont go all over and it actually stops.. other than that all weekend all i did was have my wife help design a living room on the project i am doing for a customer

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Went and picked up my latest ride a 1970 ish international crawler loader. What a fun day out in the middle of nowhere. Got the loader onto the float and then on the way out along this rural road the semi quits on a nice one lane uphill dirt section. The owner of the semi could see well enough to remove the fuel filter up under the injection unit so I had to climb in under the cab an remove/clean/replace. Lucky only one car came by resulting in them having to wait till we had fixed it.
Now today took my truck out for its madien trip after finishing installing my new reco'd big block. Shame on me for not pulling the sump when I got it back from the reconditioners. After all the usual run in time, one little run up the road and bang, coasted back down the hill and into the garage to find a nice hole in the sump because the idiot had't brazed the oil pump pickup on and it rotated upwards and got taken out by the crank counterweights.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Finally got around to putting the door bolts and bushings in. Realigned the doors, and put on a new chrome bumper. My truck is finally coming together. Next is to save up for a drop kit and add the sports mirrors. Hopefully in the near future I will get my hands on a new bed with a fuel door.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Spent all day Saturday picking up, and starting the dismantlement of a 93 1 ton 4x4. I must be getting old, cause pulling engines just ain't as much fun as it used to be! I got the front clip pulled off, and sold, then got the engine / transmission all unbolted and ready to pull. Still need to drop the t-case off the rear of the transmission before I pull it though.
I was hoping to finish today, but we got hit with a big blizzard this morning which brought us about a foot of snow, and -44F wind chill temps. I spent the morning plowing driveways in my heated bobcat, then chickened out this afternoon and hid inside watching movies, LOL I'll finish dismantling the 1 ton next week, then get started on building up my new engine, transmission and t-case. Hoping to make the swap during my week off at the end of February...

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Played with the new stereo ALOT. Trying to finish breaking everything in so we can do the final tuning before the truck goes to the body shop on tuesday.
Spent some time with the girlfriend who also likes the new stereo, but enjoys watching as I squirm every time she changes the station to country... (I listen to death metal when she's not in the truck.)

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Went to the World Of Wheels, looked at a bunch of over-chromed show cars...but also purchased a bunch of cool GM brochures for 73-87.com. I also dropped off my AM/FM factory radio at the radio shop. In 6 weeks, I will get it back with all modern internals (digital tuning, 45x4 watts, etc.), pre-amp outputs, and MP3 hookups. Basically a modern radio in a classic/factory shell. I can't wait.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
The place that is doing mine is S&M Electrotec, they are located in Blaine Minnesota. Ken, let me tell you, these guys know what they are doing. They had some OLD radios in there set up for display/demo...man they sounded good. What is cool is the digital tuning. They install a small digital LED in the tuner window, lights up when you digitally lock onto a station...invisible otherwise. The radio looks and functions just like the original (even the station pre-sets), but sounds soooo much better. Pricing is kind of spendy, mine will run me $410, with me of course providing the radio. But I don't have to cut my dash, I can run my iPod (or CD player/changer), and don't have to worry about some kid breaking in my truck to steal my high-end fancy looking aftermarket radio, and I get to keep the stock look. They also do restorations too, so if it is damaged, they can fix it.

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
So last weekend I worked on my 83 Silverado. Put the TTII's on it, painted the drums and installed a set of sports mirrors that I scored at the junkyard. Sadly, those were last things I did to it....... Money's been tight lately, so out of frustration I decided to put the sell the truck. I put a sign on the back window and posted it on Craigslist. That was Thursday afternoon. On Friday evening, a guy came to look at it, test drove it, handed me the cash and took her home... Now me and my lady are pretty heartbroken! We grew pretty attached to that truck... Time to find another! I'm going to try to find a decent 75 (the year I was born) SWB. I'll still be on this board quite a bit on the 60-66 area, but I'll be checkin' here alot too... Thanks for all the help here!! jc
Here's some pics of the truck as she looked when she left, plus a LONGHAIR photo-chop of future plans I had...

welding and grinding, welding and grinding. Still working on my modified inner fenders. They are starting to take shape, though.
Also got the under dash master cylinder all revised, got the new bell crank pieces made, and did the final test fit. Just need to weld it together (it's just tacked together right now) and install it. |

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
Went to Carson City Pick N Pull and wish I had a stack of money!! It WAS my birthday afterall!! They had 3 or 4 67-72's that seem pretty straight. And, 1 73 Blazer and 2 K10 SWB's all three with excellant bodies. No engines, but gorgeous. I'da bought all three if I 'd had the dough.
They had a 79 K10 that had it been 2wd - I woulda robbed a mini mart for. Newly painted white, all the trim strips and wheel mouldings intact and two broad blue SS stripes down the center!!! Would have made a GREAT pro streeter!! Beautiful! Oh well.. I did get the 79 grille intermediate trim mouldings I was after. And a 73 Grille decal!! Wish I had my camera .... - Dave

Re: What did you get done? 01/27
I started putting the pieces/ sensors back together on the Blazer for the TPI Plenum and intake so I can bolt it all back up. Found I was missing the plenum gaskets, so I picked them up Sunday along with a 9th injector plug.
I also put a For Sale sign on my 91 Crew Cab and there will probably be one on my Suburban in the next few weeks... I am also removing the for sale sign off of my 87 Daily Driver this week...
