Re: My 51 GMC 100 Build...
What are your plans? Stock, Kustom? Looks like a great base to start! I'd say the hardest part is keeping on budget. What builds are you following? Gotta love Kidd's GMC! Good luck, keep the pics coming!

Looks like a good start, GMC rules. There is a wealth of info online in many forums, and remember there is nothing you get to that some else has not already figured out. Also I noticed you a some artillerys on it already KOOL!

Re: My 51 GMC 100 Build...
What do I have planned hmmm. Plan on putting on a front IFS Mustang II kit with Airbags I do believe, and a Rear 4-Link Suspension also with Airbags, I am hopeing Ill be able to set it on the ground when done... But we will see... I am going to put a 454 in it even tho I was told it was a tight fit... a 700R4 tranny to go with it. But thats about as far as I have gotten. But we are still in the building stage right now and such hoping get it all out on paper and such. I am hoping to get the truck done in a 3 - 5 year timeline (sooner the later I hope), and a budget of 20K. Dunno how thats going to work but I am going to give it a shot. Will have more updates as they are done but I am going to be takeing the truck apart and finding out what I need to have replaced busy work frist then the fun stuff can come. Yup Yup I do need a fender up front haha but I guess for $450 for the truck its going to have a little bit of problems hope I got a good deal :P
Wonder how long I can keep the second halfs car out of the garage :P Last edited by Cole_lol; 01-31-2008 at 12:27 PM. |

Re: My 51 GMC 100 Build...
Have fun tearing down that RAT!! I think i put about 5k into the one that im puting in my chevy suburban. Its good to see some old GMC's coming out of the woods and ya you got a great deal on your truck, we pay more than that for a pair of front fenders up here. Have fun with your build and take your time.

Re: My 51 GMC 100 Build...
Hmm not to sure what a roo bar is but once removed what holds the front grill in place? Because the bottom of the grill had two or four bolts that supported it then two angle bars for lack of better words to support the top. just want to make sure

Re: My 51 GMC 100 Build...
spend $25 bucks on a assembly manual for your truck, it's money well spent.

Re: My 51 GMC 100 Build...
HAHA well, i do have an assembly manual and I have no clue what to look at because its for chevy trucks haha and the biggest diffrence between the two trucks i see is the front end haha, and i have not been able to find one for GMC Specific trucks
I have looked and looked at all the parts I have and the only things that I have seen that hold the chrome grill part is those ugly flat steal stock and if you notice on the side pictures there are two bars that are going at like 45 degrees they hold it at the top. According to the assembly manual the chrom girll is attached to the fenders and and what not but I have not been able to see how its supposed to be with my grill that I have it looks as if it is just free floating but im not 100% sure.
