Lowered my truck...checkout pics.
I lowered (2/4" drop) my truck this weekend while at the same time I completely rebuilt the suspension. Replaced everything, ball joints, tierods, idler arm, pitman arm, rebuilt upper and lower control arms, new shocks and springs front and rear, rear control arm bushings. Took me and a friend about 10 hours including alignment, pretty much kick our ass but it was worth it!
I do have some questions though, the lowering kit from Early Classic Enterprises came with a adjustable panhard bar. We went to put it on and it was about two inches to short??? Am I suppose to relocated one of the factory brackets? We went back with the factory one for now. Also, we did the alignment using the factory specs and the truck pulls to the right. Was wondering if anyone knew of any updated specs using a 2/4" lowering kit? Here are some pics. Before After

I don't know what it is (see my avatar) but I am really drawn to your truck!
Did you do the alignment in the driveway or garage with a portable kit? If so, did you level the truck good before starting the alignment? Your drop looks great, can't wait to do mine! This weekend was certainly the weather for it.

Now let the air out of the tires and your set... looks great. Do you think it rides and handles better? I know mine does... Sweet truck

Oh yeah, definitely night and day difference on how it handles. Feels so much more stable now for sure!

Re: Lowered my truck...checkout pics.
I could be wrong, but will give it shot on the length of the pan hard bar. Being a '64 the bar mounting bracket is on the frame and the axle tube. I bet the kit is for the mounting to the frame and the later axles where the mounting bracket is cast into the rearend housing and held in place with a large stud. The drop really looks great!

Give ECE a call, they may swap it out for a longer bar or tell you what you need to make it work. Either way, I'm sure they can get you lined out on it. |

Re: Lowered my truck...checkout pics.
Looks great. I have a 2/4 kit that I haven't made time to install (partially afraid that I'm going to bust every bolt on the old sled). Great to see what it'll basically look like when I get it done. I like the color too!
