The brass part slides into the back of your gear indicator on your column and the other end with the white socket twists into the back of your dash cluster. The bulb in the socket sends light thru the strands of fiber optic so you can see what gear you are in at night

Okay, I think I've got it. Now on my column, I have a pigtail connector for column wires and the there's a wire that is by it's self. Is this the other side of that fiber optic?

I'm not sure what that connector is for. The fiber optic cable wouldn't be down near the bottom of your column like in your pic.

Jim, is there a certain socket the bulb has to go in on the cluster, or will any of them work? Mine does not light up, but I may not have it in the right socket.

Mark I believe it generally goes in the socket to the right side of the speedometer (if you are facing it) but any should work.
