Re: 'big block' high hump F/S in Central Ohio
I have a big block engine 402 I want to install in a cab with low hump, My question is why do I need high hump, as I crawl under truck now and I notice alot of clearance, its a 400 tranny as well

Re: 'big block' high hump F/S in Central Ohio
if you have the engine mounted in the right place, with new mounts, and the correct tranny mount spacer, then it should be kinda close to the pinchweld on the low hump floor. Add chassis flex, and body mounts that sag as they get old, and it's a good idea to install it like GM did. They have rules on how much clearance should be inbetween the floor and the engine or tranny.
The added space keeps the heat down too, I know my floor will get REAL hot in the summer, and in the winter, i hardly have to use the heat once it is up to temp... the floor heats everything up enough. |
