Stepside65:
A good barometer is NADA or Kelly Blue Book. Opinions on WIW, will be varied and a wide range. Some of the desireable options on the '64-'66 Chevy trucks, besides good, rust-free sheet metal, title, VIN and running condition are: Short Wheel Base Big Back Window Fleetside V8 Automatic Custom Cab Windshield Chrome Aluminum Grille Chrome Bumpers Spare Tire Holder License Plate Bracket Factory A/C Deluxe Heater Factory AM radio Factory Jack, Handle & Lug Wrench Chrome Dash Knobs Custom Cab Sails Power-Assist Steering Power Brakes Factory Gauge Cluster Factory Tach Passenger Side Sun Visor Driver/Passenger Side Arm Rests Factory Dog Dish Hub Caps Factory 4x4 Running Gear Factory Jr. West Coast Mirrors Factory Build Sheet in Glove Box Factory Build Sheet in Seat Springs Two-Speed Wipers Factory Dash-Mounted Clock Factory Spot Light Factory Vent Shades Factory Underdash Ash Tray Factory Cruise Control Custom Steering Wheel & Horn Ring All of these options, along with a rust-free, mechanically sound, running truck will add to the value. If someone is not a '60-'66 Chevy Truck enthusiast, they will not value the truck the same as someone who likes 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks. |

Re: What do you think?
Its too bad the boom in pickup truck sales didn't happen 10 to 15 years earlier. Many of the rarer options in the sixties were very common items in 70's-80's trucks. Pickup buyers were very frugal up until the mid sixties and rarely spent more money than they had or wanted to borrow. When pickups started becoming more of a personal vechicle or recreational vehicle, then the options we take for granted today slowly became more and more common. Thats why a fully option pickup in the early to mid sixties commands top dollar. It would be nice if the aftermarket could reproduce most of these factory options to upgrade a plain-janer, since fully optioned pickups are almost impossible to find in wrecking yards today.

Re: What do you think?
The wrecking yard is not one of my options in locating a 4-5-6 Chevy truck. for the very reason stated above by factorystock. All trucks are scavaged and most parts have been pirated.
That being said, the '60-'66 Chevy Trucks are not as popular, amongst the masses, as the '47-'59 or the '67-'72 trucks, therefore there are still lots of them available for a relatively modest price, not to mention well-equipped. There are lots of highly desired factory/dealer option parts, both OEM, NOS and used, hitting the market. Try local swap meets, www.craigslist.com, eBay, as well as, aftermarket truck suppliers, like some of the vendors on this site and other Chevy truck specific sites, for 4-5-6 Chevy Trucks and parts. Re: What do you think?
for a basic 65 C10 short step NADA claims the low value to be $8,750 there's no way I'd ever get that much for it... Kbb though very good for modern cars didn't provide any area for classic vehicles. Thank you for the direction though Tony
