i know several guys on here have used them and i cant seem to find out what i am wanting to with the search function but what kind of tow bars are you guys using and where are you getting them from i am going to be towing my truck from texas to iowa soon and dont want to rent a dolly

I bought a tow bar from Walmart about 3 years ago and towed a 66 lwb from Oklahoma City to south Alabama. Never had any problems with it but I don't recall the exact brand name. The only downside was I had to drill holes in the front bumper for the tow bar mounts to attach to the truck. The upside to that was the bumper was all bent up anyway. Good luck!

I just got me another, this time from Harbor Freight. It has a bit more flexibility than the one you used of mine.

So far no problems, and it was cheaper than the first one

I used the wall mart one for many many miles too. It is the bottom of the line reese unit.
Better than drilling holes in the bumper, remove the bumper, and bolr it directly to the frame. I's have to bolt one side on, then pull the other arm to make it the last 1/8 to 1/4 inch... but it fit.
Another board member owns that one now... can't remember who. i threw it in the deal to CHEVY E when he got my old SWB, then he sold/gave it to another member.

We have an antique U-haul one. I've towed many miles with that old piece. We have a pair of homemade brackets bolted to the frame of our 84 so we don't have to use the bumper clamps now if we need to tow it...
