World of wheels - KC

Went to the World of Wheels show in KC today. Got a shot of Joes truck but didn't see him. Here are a few shots, there were some really nice trucks there and LOTS of people. Enjoy!

Re: World of wheels - KC

Jeff,
you took about the same picks I have. yep, Joe was gone, but got to meet another board member with his 65-66 chevys. he had some very nice rigs!

My take on the show.

1. Joe's flatbed is absolutely amazing. you HAVE to see to believe. beautiful!! more people were looking at it than you would believe.
2. the 68 picture above (gold - white) was done very, very, nicely. drool.
3. the "Solid Gold" 71 Cheyenne had chrome plated disc brake rotors. Bet it doesn't get driven much, hummm??
4. the rat rod scene has really become popular. the '51 3100 above was so freaking cool....... words do not describe. I would venture to say about 1/4 of the rides there were straight axled, bullet hole riddled, primered, top sectioned, mexican blanket seat covered, rat rods. And I loved them all. guess my thoughts are all are unique. and uniqueness goes a long way in my book.
5. the wow factor went to a 2003 Cadillac deville. white pearl, factory look all the way around......... what that's not show worthy. well if I said that there was a 572 in there would you be interested?? omg, what a car. drop the mildly bulged hood and it could be easily mistaken for a leasurely driven lawyer's car. no way. there was a video running of what it sounded like and how it ran. think of the most jaw dropping, tire roasting burnout you've ever saw, then time that by ten. absolutely insane.
6. a bit steep for entrance fee, but I think this year it was well worth it.

don't worry, my pics get downloaded in here tomorrow!!!

Is this the cadillac?

I also dig the patina'd rods! Looks like there was a lot of quality rides there to keep you drooling.

I was thinking about that last night (I didn't show, dang weather). Just thinking of your truck & others getting blasted with road salt & yuck makes me cringe.

The orange 71 with the big block had a recent frame off and was absolutely beautiful. Does anyone know who's it was, is he a board member?

He's not a board member. I met the owner/builder of this truck twice last summer at Goodguy's KC and midwestern truck nat's and couldn't help but post some pics then. He had just finished a 2year restoration, every bit done in his home garage shop. It is a high option true big block truck and very factory correct. When I saw the bed floor I asked him if it was one of the new Goodmark pieces, and he got kind of quiet and said if he knew about them he wouldn't have spent over 60 hours straightening the stock floor.

His son is a WyoTech grad and does paint body at a custom shop. They were very nice folks, I might remember their names if I rack my brain. Jim something. He works for Havens Construction. This is the best factory resoration I've ever seen.
