Re: New 4x4
Cool project, as long as the firewall doesn't touch I say run it My 454 is about 1/8" away. I used HD engine mounts to keep the engine stiff in the frame. ORD type mounts or DIY4X has um a bit cheeper.
Post up more pics as you get-r=done

Re: New 4x4
well I haven't gotten much done, I got the inside floor all spray undercoated... I hate rust and there will never be rust on this cab again! I need to get all my A/C airbox gaskets this week so I can work on the wireing. I've come upon a big dilemma and need you guys' advice though. The truck that I'm building now is basically a mix of different parts, e.g.: '72 chevy running gear, '71 GMC factory air cab, hood, fenders. The plan was to piece this truck together and I've yet to find a shortbed. Heres the dilemma...my daily driver, and my first truck, and current only means of transport (I just turned 18) is a 2wd '71 swb. So do I rip the bed from it's home in the 2wd frame and finish the 4x4 or wait it out and keep looking for a swb? This may seem really stupid but it's gonna be a real heart breaker for me. I LOVE this truck. I've been to car shows and actually won awards, me and my buddies cruise it every weekend rain or shine. I've done so much work to it and really beat the piss out of it but I'm gonna miss it. The paints faded and the clearcoat is peeling, the engine is a tired 350 and and the springs have been hacked, cut and heated. It has no suspension travel, and I love it. This truck will always be my first love and my first heart break...
