Lowering springs on Suburban front end - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a complete '86 Suburban cross member that I plan on swapping over to a '67. If I want to use a lowering spring to drop the original stance 1". Can I use the 1" drop springs that are available in the vendor catalogs to get the 1" drop, or will I need to do something different? If it makes a difference, the Suburban was a diesel.

I hope someone can answer your question.I think it is probably right but the diesel weighed so much more that the springs in it may be of a higher rate.Maybe someone has acess to look up and see if there are different part #'s for the diesel springs.If you drop one in with springs it may drop you more if the gas engine is signifigantly lighter.Or it may not drop any with a lighter engine and 1 in drop springs.
I'm kind of thinking thru the questions I would ask myself if I were doing this.

being that the cross member isn't in yet, i think he wants a one inch drop from where the truck sits now.
I'd say get a 2 inch drop spring... most trucks with factory springs have already sagged 1/2 inch or more. If you were to get a one inch drop spring (if they make such a thing) then it may not lower the truck at all.
