Smile I6 Power Steering Brackets

I was on the phone with CCP yesterday and learned they have an almost complete power steering conversion kit for my 1967 1/2 ton. Got up to giving them my Visa number and found out the kit was for V8s only. They say they have everything needed except the pump brackets. They also said there are three brackets needed. First of all, does anyone sell these brackets? If not then does anyone have a list of vehicles I would be able to get the brackets off of from the junk yard? It really would be nice to have power steering.
Thanks for your time,
Guy

Re: I6 Power Steering Brackets

You have to be very careful buying the brackets...there were at least two different setups for the 6 cyls. Some 6's had integrated heads and some did not. Your best bet is hunting in the yards for the exact setup you need. Get ready for a long hunt though. Maybe someone will read this and help out.

What does intergrated mean? I saw that term used in the LMC catalog and the intergrated power steering gear box was marked for the 4 wheel drive trucks and the one that was not intergrated was marked for use in a 2 wheel drive truck. Can you tell me the difference in a intergrated gear box and one that is not?
Thank you,
Guy

Re: I6 Power Steering Brackets

I know this doesnt help much with ps brackets that you need, but I do have a pic of a integrated head 250 and a non-integrated head (what you probably have) 250 that I pulled from board member's "drivethechevy" 68 C20 this week here at school... the integrated head will usually ahve two exhaust outlets and a real funny shaped valve cover (two mountains on the end and a valley in the center. My integrated head engine in the shop has ps and I tried to get the best pics possible with the brakets... I do not believe they are the same as the non integrated head... the non integrated head I have in the shop has a rigged ps setup on it and is NOT correct, but very creative to say the least... well I have to get back to kids... I can try to get better pics later...

Thanks to all.

Mike,
Thanks for getting the pictures out to me. From what you have shown me I have the non-intergrated type I6. My valve cover is the same hight all the way across. Learning what I have is a great start. If it is not to much to ask, could you put some pictures up of the brackets CCP is saying I need to complete the power steering conversion?
Thanks again to everyone,
Guy

Re: I6 Power Steering Brackets

You can get the brackets off of any car with the 250 6 or if you have a 292 any truck with one(I'm not sure the 292 came in any cars).Make sure and get the pulleys and all associated parts.250 and 292 are different!!!If it comes from a later model the hoses require adapters. There should be lots more info in the FAQ's.
BTW watch the parts board. The brackets come up on there from time to time. You might also post a WTB.
