From my experiences with my '39 Ford (battery in trunk) I wouldn't recommend it. If you do, use welding cable for your battery cables and use the solder on cable ends not the clamp on ones. I would also recommend running a ground cable to the motor from the battery instead of just using the frame as a main ground source. Also be sure and use ground straps from the motor to the frame and body. I melted two sets of clamp on battery cable ends before I figured all of this out..... LockDoc

Where did you get the battery box, or did you build it?

Re: Anyone See Problems? Rear Mnt Battery
LockDoc - understand on the cable issues. i have ran rear mount batteries before and know the charging and grounding issues. i will also have charging lugs behind the rear flip down plate.
(Where did you get the battery box, or did you build it?) Smileys racing. they cater to the dirt track guys but you would be suprised what you can make work with some creativity... http://www.smileysracing.com/ more focused on fitment.... i might need some measurements... |

Re: Anyone See Problems? Rear Mnt Battery
that look like my truck same tray @ same spot on frame.like lockdoc said use good cable @ solder ends on lots of good grounds i used frame for main ground but welded studs on frame for grounds . make sure you use battery kill switch at back of truck because you get a short you could burn up the truck.also need it if you drag race the truck.bought my tray at capital speed shop on line its a nice tray and its heavy duty

Other than that it looks good to me. I also recommended a maintenance free battery like Optma. I had a battery in the rear on my last car, it was great. Vaya con Dios s/t

Re: Anyone See Problems? Rear Mnt Battery
Will it have enough room to be taken out with the bed on? If you aren't racing the truck why do you need it in the rear? Seems to be a lot of added work for no gain's. Cool factor isn't that great and you can have some pretty neat cover's made for the stock battery. Just my cent's worth.

Re: Anyone See Problems? Rear Mnt Battery
racing - more weight over the axle
there is just enough room to shimmy it in |

I put two in the back, used welder wire about the size of your thumb.Never had to use it as a DD but never ran into problems.

Re: Anyone See Problems? Rear Mnt Battery
I did the same thing but on the passenger side to help balance my girlish weight.
