what I found in my uncles car/truck graveyard.
I am in the process of rebuilding a 350 for my 67 Chevy(tread on here) and I was just looking around at the old cars/trucks and found this...
What does everyone think? Its just sitting there wanting to be rebuilt and its free...lol...I think it would look good under the hood of my 67 with everything polished up and a cool oval breather under the hood. P.S. Just the intake, I'll get a new turbo and the pipe goes into the stock manifolds, I want it routed in headers. I always thought SC for V-8's and turbos for imports but this just looks...good IMO. Re: what I found in my uncles car/truck graveyard.
That looks like a 79 Buick turbo system I had on my turbo Regal. They aren't very good systems and theres no way to put a much needed inter cooler on it.

Theres always a way to run new tubing to the front for an intercooler.

Re: what I found in my uncles car/truck graveyard.
s/t its a holden vs statesman - bit like a bigger lumina. my brother build this turbo set up, its a 5.0l 308ci motor - not sure on turbo size. but it made 600hp on the dyno with the turbo setup on that stock engine. got a tremec 6spd box with cusco lsd to get power down. iv been in it an man does it launch hard, we had it off the clock at 220kmh on the street racing another car....

Re: what I found in my uncles car/truck graveyard.
is that 600 metric horses?
I had to man... that's sweet if you ask me. I used to think of turbos for 4 cylinder cars and diesels... but there's some seriouse fun packed in them though, that's for certian. |

Re: what I found in my uncles car/truck graveyard.
that looks like the turbo that was in my '81 Formula Firebird. It was labelled a "4.9" - 301 -, it was a trouble free motor except I did go through 1 turbo. It was the 2nd turbo for GM. not particularly great. 2 mpg better than the 400, maybe 5 hp more than the 400. I would spend my time on a 350 instead.

Re: what I found in my uncles car/truck graveyard.
Not sure where the other pic went. I'm not going to use this but as far as the intercooler goes, the turbo would be moved and piping run to an intercooler. I'm curious, if I wanted to run a turbo, what would be the best way? Has anyone done this on this year truck?
