How rare is this?
I have never saw this before and was wondering how rare it is? Is it a factory option? Just curious.

Re: How rare is this?
Not factory. Looks like kind of a JC whitney kind of thing. What is it made of?

Re: How rare is this?
The same companys that GM contracted to do ambulance conversions did funeral and flower cars, they were popular on these kind of vehicles. They may have been robbed off an old Suburban hearse or could be aftermarket

Re: How rare is this?
That actually makes sense.... the bars on top of the bed sides appear to be the sides off of a suburban roof rack...

Re: How rare is this?
I agree they are ugly, but they did catch my eye. I think the molding that goes across them is what had me so puzzled. I wished I would have got a picture of the front so everyone could see all of the added bling on the front.

Re: How rare is this?
I remeber seeing those on a glass delivery truck back in the mid 70's. the glass carrier frame was mounted to the outside of the bed...... guess it made it easier to deliver and remove.

If you think that is rare, check out this. It took a ton of work to get this back to stock. I almost wish there was never a stupid corvette option!

Re: How rare is this?
Ah, but don't forget the rear most axle is a floater, just like on the back end of a Greyhound bus. It's only there to smooth the ride and increase cargo capacity. It's not a driven axle...

Re: How rare is this?
Daves ride, the fat chick option was more commonly refered to as the 'Slump Buster' option. When in a slump, gotta bust it.
that'll get me banned for sure. LOL |

Re: How rare is this?
I always thought those things on trucks were just horrible. A truck is not a Cadillac.

Re: How rare is this?
The last post link reminded me the truck also had a sunvisor added to the front of the cab and some added lights to the frontend. It was a true classic....LOL
Which also bids me to ask. What other crazy/ugly/gay combinations have you saw in our trucks and pics would be great. Last edited by 1972Ryan; 03-13-2008 at 06:16 PM. |
