Wont Start?

67 327 holley 4barrel with an HEI ignition. She was running fine then sat for a couple months got it to sputter once now nothing. Its getting gas and Ive checked for spark and have that as well. It just cranks and cranks but nothing. Could I have a bad module in my HEI and still be getting spark maybe it screwed the timing all up dont know Im lost now.

Re: Wont Start?

My camaro did this one time. It ran just fine, I put a water pump on it, and then it wouldn't run. I pulled out the distributer and dropped it back in and it started and ran just fine. When it would get warm it would die and act like vapor lock. I pulled out the fancy MSD module and put a stock one in and it ran just fine. It seems od it is sparking but not starting. When mine did this I was told to check that the gears on the distrubuter were good and that the timing chain was tight and didn't jump.

Re: Wont Start?

check for spark on more than one cylinder, also if the spark is weak and yellowish in color, it might not be creating a spark under compression.

its possible the module could be bad, ive heard ignition modules do alot of crazy/ intermittent stuf when there going bad.

Re: Wont Start?

I had a similar problem and it traced back to the carb. Cleaned it out and fired right up.

Re: Wont Start?

Rebuilt and cleaned the carb with a kit yesterday had the module tested today it checked out fine replaced the capacitor module since it looked shady. I checked and have spark at the cylinders and fuel going in the manifold.... Im totally stumped and ready to throw in a stick of dynamite.
