Tripod style side mirror vibration

Just picked up a '72 K-10. Love the truck and it is in super shape. The mirrors on the doors vibrate terribly. Anyone have a fix for this? I recently installed new ones because the originals were broken. The only difference I notice in the new ones versus the original mirrors are that the originals were heavier. I can hardly see what is behind me they shake so bad. any suggestions would be appreciated.

The mirrors themselves may be moving with the wind. Also the door sheet metal vibrates causing whatever is mounted, in this case mirrors, to vibrate also.

Make sure your mounting bolts are solid and the bolt holding the mirror to the frame is solid.

I dislike these mirrors and recently replaced them with some 90's Ford mirrors.

Welcome to the board. Are they the style with the long or short attachment lower legs? I had a set of the style with the short legs and they were worthless. The longer leg ones seem to vibrate alot less.

You could try adding a piece of flat stock on the inside of the door for the lower legs of the mirrors to bolt to, to help knock out some of the vibration.

They have the short legs. The thing is that the old mirrors didn't vibrate. I am going to add some additonal support inside the door, mainly because of my Hulk grip on the scredriver, I stripped the holes in the sheetmetal.
