Thinking about this wiring harness
Anyone use the EZ Wire harnesses? I need to do some wiring on my 62 and figured I would just replace it all instead of trying to repair 46 yr old wiring. Here is the link to one I found.

I'm familiar or distant friends with electrical things so its easier for me, but, its not easy for anyone!
I only glanced at the listing, but it looks like its generic, so you'll need to adapt the ends to your truck, which means soldering/crimping (or hopefully both) old bits to new. Not fun. You also now have a harness that if/when it goes wrong, nobody but fellow owners of the same harness can help troubleshoot with specific problems. Its hard to say without knowing the condition of the existing wires (probably bad), and your understanding of electrical stuff. Car/truck wiring is tough in a way. |

I don`t have alot of electrical expereince with cars/trucks but I do alot of stuff on Harleys and they are pretty much the same principle.

I thought about running there 21c mini harness. I haven't heard much bad about ez, other than to check the crimps before going further, but imo you should do that with any harness.

American Auto wire is a much better product. EZ wire is about half the price but also about half the quality. Just my .02...

i used both e-z wire and americian auto(now highway 15) wire harness,bith worked fine for me but im more fond of the highway 15 on the account you dont have to deal with allthe wires at on time which does make it easier to lay it all out and run the wires neatly and kind of hidden

502, I`ll look into the amereican auto wire kit. This truck is going to be alow buck build but i don`t want crappy electrical.

I went with the m&h wire hirness. it was plug and play. I wired the complete truck for about 650.00 but it only took about three hours total time. Every thing works fine.

I think I am going to try a harness out of a 67-79 chev/gmc truck from the junk yard- they are very similar, common, and set up for sbc/altenator,hei.....

I have EZ wire...but the mini fuse kit...
everything labeled pretty well...... wasn't that hard to install......I'm pretty happy with it......

A good quality, factory wiring harness, including correctly labeled fuse block and factory connectors, as well as all other harness, are available from www.classicparts.com. For under $400.00 in parts, you can completely rewire your rig. I have personally used them and for the money, I find the convenience and appearance of the factory harness, comparable to the aftermarket options. I have also purchased good, used factory underdash harnesses on eBay with great success. I am very discriminating when it comes to purchasing used wiring harnesses and they are available, unmolested on eBay, if you are prudent and persistent with your search. Pass on the EZ Wire harness. Price is cheap, so is the quality. Better choice would be American Wire or Ron Francis. Doesn't matter if it's a low buck truck if the electrical doesn't work or it burns to the ground you sitll lost.

The appearance doesn`t matter to me as long as it gets the job done. I can`t afford a $650 harness or even a $300 harness. I`ll have to keep doing some reasurce on wiring. I`ve heard from others who have used the EZ kit with no trouble. I would thin as long as the wire is the correct gage and comes with any required relays it would be ok. Thanks guys I`ll keep you posted on what I end up with. I`m planning to buy a harness in the next couple weeks.
