Tie rod end replacement
I am in the process of replacing my tie rod ends. What am I missing--I have broke both ends loose, but there is not enough room to remove them because I am hitting the leaf spring. I am sure there is an explanation--any advice would be greatly appreciated.--Thanks David

Re: Tie rod end replacement
If the springs are sagging that bad put a bumper jack under it and pull them out. If it has been lowered you may have a problem.

Re: Tie rod end replacement
The springs are probably sagging, but even when I jack the front end up from the bumper, there is still not enough clearance to remove the tie rod ends. The "drive bar????" that the tie rods are connected to is about one inch from the leaf springs. Jacking it up only increases about one half inch and does not allow enough space for the tie rod ends to clear.

Re: Tie rod end replacement
For some reason your post is one of the ones I can't see pictures in. If it won't clear and you have to change them, it is looking like the only options are either loosening the u bolts that hold the axle to the springs or removing a spindle, then moving it around till it will clear. If it is close you might be able to leave the truck lifted overnight and some of the sag will go the other way to let it clear.
