Talking no light 69 side markers

Question for the pro's out there-I have a 69 3/4 and the side markers do not have wires to light them up. I know the truck's history as it was my grandpa's ride but I recently took out the side marker thinking the bulb was burned out only to find that there are no wires and the markers were stamped with the place for bulbs but never cut or drilled to accept sockets-anyone seen this before or could this be another corvette option?

Re: no light 69 side markers

My dad's 69 was the same way. I think 69 the lighted side markers were optional and in 70 they were standard...

Re: no light 69 side markers

If you want to install lighted side markers; it is not all that difficult..refer to wiring diagram and add necessary wiring.. plus side markers, lamps and sockets.

Re: no light 69 side markers

I had the same. I bought a set of deluxe side markers from the Car & Truck shop. Bought the pigtails from GM and wired them in. The fronts blink when signaling but the rears stay on all the time. Very easy mod to do and it looks alot beter IMO

Re: no light 69 side markers

same with my 69, I changed out the lenses bought the bulb connecters @ autozone, and ran wires to the parking lights and tail lamps and they work fine.

The harness I got from GMCPauls was wired for side marker lights.

Re: no light 69 side markers

I have a 71 chevy and I'm looking at putting the delux type side markers on. There was a guy that took a set of a van and they fit. Does any one know what years will be the same hole size as the orginals.

Re: no light 69 side markers

They were optional, as already stated, in '69. However, if the vehicle was a 1-ton, they were standard. Since the government had mandated the side markers (cars) in '68, and only reflectors for trucks up to 1-ton, all we got was an empty reflector that would accept a light.

Replacement front harnesses have the wiring and sockets for the correct bulbs, that twist into the stock housing.

78-84 GM van's have the same marker light as the 68-72 pickup's, deluxe or standard. 85-95 GM van's have the flush looking marker lights that alot of people use. I had them on my 72. They are a perfect fit...

Re: no light 69 side markers

Being a one ton did not make it automaticly get markers... it was the daul rear wheel option that required clearance, and side marker lights at an added cost over the DRW option.
